What you’ll be doing...

As a Security Solution Architect on the Technology Incubation team, you will be the technical lead for various security products offered by Verizon. You will be responsible for researching, designing, and architecting the underlying technical and system components of these products and their integration into Verizon’s network and backend systems. You will use your extensive security knowledge to ensure Verizon builds the most effective, lowest-cost security products. You will also work with academic and research institutions to understand long-term security threats and capabilities that will inform Verizon’s strategies.

As a member of the Technology Incubation team, you will work in a fast-paced environment focused on rapidly identifying, evaluating, and deploying new security technologies for Verizon. You will interact with Product Managers, customers, engineers building and operating Verizon’s networks, and security engineering/operations teams to fully understand the requirements, timelines, and operational environments for the security products. You will collaborate with vendors and the broader and security communities to stay up to speed on the latest security developments and ensure their future capabilities align with Verizon’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and architect the technical solutions for Verizon security products.
  • Build relationships with Product Managers, customers, engineering, operations, and security teams to understand how to develop effective security solutions.
  • Communicate progress, findings, and ensure successful handoff of deliverables to program and operational teams.
  • Build domain knowledge of Verizon’s environment to understand long-term risk areas that will develop as the systems evolve.
  • Author and collaborate on Technical Requirements, Specifications, Proposals, High Level Designs, and other applicable engineering documents.
  • Conduct detailed technology research on industry and vendor solutions and implement new solutions in the Incubation Team's lab.
  • Provide thought leadership by participating in industry and security forums and collaborating with academic and research institutions.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Knowledge with key Verizon system areas such as 5G, LTE, routing, switching, optical networks, IoT, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, etc.
  • Knowledge with the security domains of security engineering, IAM, network/asset/data security, software development, assessment, testing, and operations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple high priority projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-visibility, complex technical projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience architecting security capabilities/solutions.
