The new Tribeca space brings together the industry’s sharpest minds across a multitude of disciplines, forming an integrated team that is responsive and innovative across every Verizon touch point.

The Senior Retoucher reports into the Senior Manager of Print Production and Studio and provides image retouching, color correction, and compositing on assigned projects for the Verizon in-house agency. The Senior Retoucher will also provide prepress and production support for appropriate projects and will be responsible for retouching and post-production workflow process. This lead role will manage all the retouching needs of the studio and will determine how best to utilize other team members or to utilize freelance talent. The Senior Retoucher will also work closely with the creative, marketing, design and retail teams to ensure quality, color and image consistency throughout Verizon’s entire brand. Responsibilities include:

  • Performs full image retouching including, clean up, outlining, merging multiple images when needed, color correction/shifting, cropping and compositing.
  • Create and maintain new product retouching guidelines for the in-house agency.
  • Work with the Studio Manager to minimize waste, improve efficiencies and track cost savings.
  • Performs file naming and archiving of images following in-house agency process for both product and marketing photography.
  • Liaise directly with external partners, partner agencies and production vendors to coordinate and execute scans, digital output, outside color correction and retouching when needed as well asprinting.
  • Manage additional freelance staff working on overflow projects, provide files and retouching direction to freelance staff and manage daily workflow with freelancers.
  • Advises creative on best way to execute approved concepts via illustration, scanning, retouching and pre-press techniques.
  • Helps solve problems before they negatively impact the project, team or processes.
  • Prepares proofs (black and white laser output or specified color outputs).
  • Reviews all work for errors/omissions with Studio Manager prior to turning in work for final approval.
  • Acts as a mentor and technical advisor to junior staff.
  • Responsible for calibrating production/pre-press related computer equipment daily, including but not limited to scanning equipment, output devices, servers, software and all related hardware.
  • Work with the Studio Manager in developing color calibration techniques and creates ICC color profiles that produce consistent color output from scanner to monitor to output devices.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in retouching, studio production and pre-press within an advertising agency, design studio or related field.
  • Experience in design techniques, skills, tools and procedures for applicable media.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat. Adobe certification.
  • Knowledge of printing techniques, processes, pre-press and online image preparation best practices.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-past environment while managing urgent deadlines, shifting priorities, organizing and reporting a variety of production details.
  • Experience working and leading within a team environment.
  • Ability to state opinions clearly and can verbally describe visual concepts.
  • Ability to provide feedback to supporting team members to drive development and executional excellence.
  • Capability to seek appropriate support from other team members to help develop assets for specific projects.
  • Ability to detail and diligent in the final preparation of work including production, presentation details and ultimately the final QC.
