What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be working for one of the most cutting-edge groups in Verizon, building and maintaining Augmented and Virtual Reality systems. You will be responsible for supporting our hardware infrastructure deployments (both Enterprise IT and R&D), our local network stack, as well as our remote sites and deployments. These stacks will include managing the physical network, the local server infrastructure, as well as specialty Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) nodes. In addition, you will responsible for some aspects of sourcing and procuring parts and equipment required for building out our various architectures.

You will be handling day-to-day requests and issues that arise with staff. You will use your existing knowledge to set up custom equipment, create/deploy images, and take ownership of assigned projects for our AR/VR products and MEC solutions.

In addition, you may be expected to make overarching decisions in the event other members of staff are unavailable and in some circumstances be the sole point of contact and support on-site at a given time.

Other day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Working closely with developers from multiple teams, QA and other engineers, while taking direction from product and team management, to oversee and advise on the infrastructure and code of state-of-the-art AR/VR products.
  • Acquiring hardware and software components based on team and management needs, through use of Verizon Sourcing and Procurement team policies and vast supplier networks.
  • Utilizing best practices maintaining staff equipment inventory.
  • Improving ticket workflows and documenting procedures to ensure requirements are met and save time.
  • Providing 24x7 production support as needed for critical releases and product launches.
  • Solving IT support tickets and requests as needed.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Three years experience providing IT support to a team of at least 50 users including software developers.
  • One year or more working in a datacenter environment.
  • Experience with software and cloud tools such as: Azure AD, NVIDIA GRID, NVIDIA GPUDirect, Jenkins, Office 365, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto Wildfire, VMware vSphere, Redhat Virtualization Manager, OVirt.
  • Expertise with multiple server operating systems including Linux (all distros), Mac OS, Windows Server 2012-2016.
  • Knowledge of implementing secure network communications and authentication using SSL/TLS, SSO.
  • Two or more years of relevant server infrastructure experience.
  • Experience and comfort working in Agile work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured documentation, and effectively communicate with developers, external contacts, and leadership.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Expertise working with Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) or Edge Compute orchestration and deployment.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Powershell 2.0, BASH
  • Experience at working at high profile tradeshows and events.
