Strategic Initiatives (VZW) is hiring talent that will explore different ways we can enhance our consumer wireless product offerings and services through: billing, customer service & experience. This team will partner with cross functional teams in Finance, Marketing, Digital and Technology to provide solutions for our customers.

The Manager of Strategy & Marketplace Positioning will be responsible for overall business strategy articulation and marketplace positioning of VZ wireless services. The ability to coherently and succinctly capture complex concepts and present them in a simple, straightforward manner is key. This position requires interpreting large amounts of data from a variety of sources, analyzing existing and emerging market opportunities, and synthesizing it into accessible, easy-to-understand documents for both internal and external consumption. You will be on point for executive operational reviews competitive reporting and analysis.

The candidate will conduct market analysis of competitive landscape, including emerging technologies and players, competition, value chain, legal and regulatory implications, and overall impacts affecting the marketplace in which we operate.

You will be able to perform financial analysis, create business cases, and manage and interpret a P&L for the overall program, as well as analyze and summarize the quarterly reporting for our competitors. You will work with internal finance and strategy teams for planning purposes. In addition, the manager will be responsible for identification, definition, and analysis of new business opportunities and challenges related to our offering, and working with the Business Development team to size and pursue relevant opportunities.

Strong analytical, financial, creative thinking, and organizational skills are required. The position requires a "knowledge worker" - someone who can synthesize information and contribute to the organization through their assessment of data. The candidate will have to work closely with the leadership team. Attention to detail and accuracy in results are critical.

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; significant experience in creation of executive presentations; analytical background; written/verbal communication skills; define and execute process that measures and drives adoption of new tools; ability to identify and report on meaningful data resulting in actionable recommendations.

The candidate must be a self-starting, self-motivating individual with high degree of understanding of the telecom and specifically the wireless industry, with very strong analytical skills and business acumen. Candidate should be able to work independently in a fast-paced pressured environment with minimal supervision and direction; your immediate supervisor will not be on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development on defining and refining our strategy in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, and identifying and developing new ways to meet or beat the competition.
  • Development of key presentations for members of the management team.
  • Prepare presentations and position papers on key issues facing the busienss to formulate company strategy and for senior management to present the units' position internally and externally.
  • Quarterly financial and operational analysis and benchmarking of industry peers and adjacent companies.
  • Oversee the development of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual strategic and competitive reports, including an annual strategic plan.
  • Identify, develop and implement new business opportunities to drive growth.
  • Maintain internal and external business alignment.
  • Planning and forecasting, prepare budgets, identify metrics, and evaluate performance.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or business.
  • Six or more years of professional work experience.
  • Relevant finance experience.
  • Strong presentation creation skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of wireless industry trends and key business drivers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree. Ideally, an MBA.
  • Experience in the prepay sector of the wireless industry.
  • Management consulting or equities background.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strategy development experience.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and influence skills.
