This senior Technical Product Manager Position is part of the Product Development team focused on Verizon’s branded mobile applications and services for consumers, such as Verizon Call Filter, Dynamic Preload and AppFlash. The Technical Product Manager interfaces extensively with many disciplines internal to Verizon, such as Product Management, Product Marketing, Device Technology, Project Management, Business Intelligence, Legal, Operations, in-house developers, Customer Care; As well as with external partners, such as App developers, content partners.

The Senior Technical Product Manager will work independently and collaboratively on products in the team’s portfolio, with a focus on Dynamic Preload Platform, Call Filter client related initiatives and AppFlash. Key responsibilities include:

  • Product Development:
    • Plan: Gather marketing requirements on new product or new features and translate them into an end-to-end architecture that delivers a superior customer experience. Assess vendors, make build vs. buy recommendations.
    • Build: Be the focal point in the Software Development Life Cycle. Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Sourcing, Legal to assure Verizon’s business interests are met. Lead user acceptance testing, be the gatekeeper on product quality.
  • Product Lifecycle Management:
    • Become the product’s Subject Matter Expert. Monitor customer feedback and product metrics. Recommend changes or enhancements.
    • Assist operations, developers and customer support teams to resolve escalated customer issues.
  • Product Strategy:
    • Participate in product/feature ideation sessions with product management and product marketing
    • Keep current on technical trends, industry standards and competitors. Make technical recommendations on architectural changes and/or enhancements that benefit the products.

    What we’re looking for...

    You’ll need to have:

    • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
    • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
    • Experience with web technologies (HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax), web servers (CGI, Apache, Microsoft IIS).
    • Experience of client/server and/or distributed computing architecture, router-based networks utilizing TCP/IP or OSI protocols (TCP, SSL, HTTP, LDAP, SOAP).
    • Experience with architecting call flows and presenting design decisions with cross functional teams.
    • Willingness to travel.

    Even better if you have:

    • A degree.
    • Eight or more years in Product Management or Technical Product Management.
    • Four or more years in Mobile Application Product development
    • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning frameworks and architectures.
    • Knowledge of 3GPP SIP standards.
    • Consulting and/or Solution Architect experience.
    • Experience with OEM interactions, Device porting of applications for various device models and OS.
    • Experience with Advertising technology, Attribution platforms, and content management.
    • Knowledge of wireless networks, especially LTE. 5G, Mobile Edge Compute.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong technical (e.g. software systems design) and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
    • Experience with managing/designing carrier-grade mobile apps or consumer apps focused on parental controls and location.
    • Experience managing vendors and partners.
    • Knowledge of mobile devices, mobile operating systems (Android and iOS), wireless applications, wireless consumer trends.
