What you’ll be doing...

The Advanced Analytics and Data Engineering team is responsible for strategy and implementation of analytics solutions for Verizon Groups with sales over one hundred and twenty billion dollars. We deliver and support several concurrent interdependent initiatives that require high degree of coordination across multiple areas of Finance, Consumer, Business, Network, and IT.

This position is responsible for the technical design and implementation of complex use cases on the big data analytics platform and performing analysis to provide actionable insights.

  • Creating high level design documents and detail design documents and executing them.
  • Primary responsibility for the security compliance for the data lake.
  • Presenting findings and explaining results to management.
  • Filtering, aggregating and transforming data based on direction from SME's and data scientists.
  • Interfacing with various/complex stakeholder groups and functions.
  • Compliance to Verizon policies and procedures.
  • Performing exploratory data analysis using the latest visualization and analytical tools.

You’re able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, and you take pride in your ability to share your considerable knowledge with your peers.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience as a data scientist, analyst, or statistical modeler.
  • Experience working with statistical packages like R, Python, MAtlab, SciPy, SAS

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in business intelligence and analytics, computer science, mathematics or related discipline.
  • Experience working with large datasets using tools like SQL, Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig/Hive, Spark, H2O.
  • Experience with Cloud architecture such as AWS.
  • Experience with visualization tools, like Tableau.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing or Teradata SQL.
  • Knowledge of distributive computing tools, like Hive or Spark.
  • Experience with Site Catalyst/Clickstream.
  • Experience with programming languages, like Java, Python, or Scala.
  • Experience collaborating with business to fully understand requested functionality, to formulate and model analytics solutions, execute the analytics study, assess results to ensure compliance with requirements and desired business results; Operationalize the models for ongoing, continuous machine learning
  • Knowledge of business processes related to both Managerial and External Financial Reporting, Financial Budget Planning and inter-dependencies with ERP processes.
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively operate independently and in a team environment
  • Verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint, Visio) and oral presentation skills.
