What you’ll be doing...

We’re looking for an experienced software development manager to lead the R&D teams in Verizon Connect’s Toronto office.

Our teams in Toronto are responsible for the development and maintenance of our industry-leading commercial navigation products. They have a customer-base that includes some of the biggest fleets in long-haul trucking in North America plus a growing set of service and delivery fleets worldwide. With many thousands of drivers relying on our products, this is an opportunity to help shape the efficiency and safety of many of the vehicles that power the economy.

We look to build high-performing cross-functional teams that use lean development practices to deliver value rapidly to customers. In this demanding role you’ll provide technical and personal leadership to continually improve how work gets done and to keep team members coached and motivated so they reach optimal performance levels and achieve personal development goals.

You’ll also work with our other R&D and Product teams around the world to deliver a high quality and seamless customer experience across our diverse portfolio of products.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product Management, R&D Leadership and UX to understand feature requirements and jointly define product vision and product roadmap.
  • Set clear, measurable goals for your products and teams in a data-driven way.
  • Work closely with your development teams and the product group to keep execution sharp. Understand the constraints that exist on various project dimensions, and adjust early to accommodate them. Coordinate with other teams where dependencies exist.
  • Drive a positive and high performing culture within the team and beyond. Celebrate wins when things go right. Conduct blame-free and transparent retrospectives when things go wrong, and fix the core issues. We believe in continuous improvement and we don’t cling to the status quo.
  • Help your team members achieve their full potential. Give them the opportunity to grow in their development, project oversight and product interaction responsibilities.
