What you’ll be doing...

You will oversee daily interaction with Sedgwick regarding employees with workplace accommodations, restrictions, FMLA status, and pay treatment etc. You will also manage the processing members of the Americans with Disabilities Act cases, workman's compensation applications, family care leaves and leaves of absence and report on and off duty accidents. A thorough knowledge of the labor local union contract and interface with Labor Relations is used to support accountability to supervise the administration of the absence and tardiness control Guidelines/Plans for union employees.You will be accountable to be the driving force of the district in connection with meeting/exceeding absence objectives and therefore, will carry the same objectives assigned to the overall district/director. Additionally, you will model the Credo and drive individual, group and environmental behaviors that drive attendance improvement. This includes ensuring that absence and tardiness information is recorded into AMTS, timely, thoroughly and with quality. Daily task may be as follows:

  • Document in AMTS (Absence Management Tracking System).
  • Responsible for absence tracking reports.
  • Monitor/track/advise employees and document FMLA approvals/denials.
  • File related FMLA/Sedgwick case information.
  • Contact employees during absences.
  • Review pending FMLA cases, escalate as/if necessary.
  • Review pending Sedgwick cases, escalate as/if necessary.
  • Review pending Worker's comp, medical restrictions, ADA cases follow-up as necessary.
  • Apply discipline, Extend target dates, provide Exempt day notification and retrogression as appropriate.
  • Prepare/present attendance-related grievances.
  • Input/update information in Labor Relations database.
  • Utilize AMTS, Absence Management Team, Sedgwick, Labor Relations, HR, and the Eweb for case management/status; keep current on attendance related systems, reporting and analysis tools, programs, local CBA..
  • Analyze Absence data from COGNOS w data/output to evaluate attendance performance and identify opportunities for measurable action and acknowledgement.
  • Proactively manage/monitor, disability Workman's Comp, and ADA cases throughout the case lifecycle, utilizing available resources; administer/apply discipline/retrogression.
  • Manage Medical Restrictions and Accommodations in the NE/NY and (Mid-Atlantic) regions.
  • Recognize and address internal/external factors that drive/influence absence.
  • Meet monthly/quarterly with employees and/or groups to communicate attendance issues/performance scorecards.
  • Communicate/post results with highlight improvement trends.
  • Attend business unit training sessions.
  • Read /research attendance/absence health/wellness articles, websites; keep current on business.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • One or more years of experience with absence tracking.
  • Ability to execute under deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to multitask, effective organization and planning skills.
  • Experience with AMTS, Cognos, NE/NY Absence Control Plan, North Guidelines Tardiness, the Unreliability Absence Plan and Modified Regional Attendance Plan.
  • Ability to interface with multiple departments to obtain sensitive data to effectively manage attendance.
