What you’ll be doing...

You’ll use your program design and vendor management expertise to continuously enhance our state of the art wellness programs. You will take insurance jargon and explain it in an easy to understand way where better matters. Additionally, you will:

  • Manage a team of employees, which includes planning work and dividing it among employees; training, coaching and counseling employees, directing the work of employees; managing the performance of the employees including setting objectives, assessing performance, placing employees on performance improvement plans, and recommending disciplinary action.
  • Managing disability vendor relationships, employee interactions, data reviews, payroll requests and audits, benefits team partnerships, and interactions with business leaders related to disability plans and claims.
  • Consulting regularly with the legal department on escalated issues to minimize Company exposure and liability.
  • Researching issues and driving toward quick resolution in order to minimize absenteeism.
  • Planning and executing work by taking ownership of employee issues while working autonomously.
  • Partnering with the field, HR and other partners to identify improvements and implement best practices in administration, processes, and or plan design.
  • Reviewing individual situations on a daily basis, discussing solutions and influencing decisions with all levels of management and Legal.
  • Training, educating, and supporting HR on leave administration processes.
  • Executing on absence, disability, and leave related company initiatives.
  • Partnering with internal organizations to authorize employment actions related to benefit claim decisions.
  • Supports HR Business Partners, EEO/ER Teams, and field clients by providing guidance and information in relation to absence policies, processes and systems.
  • Assist with development of benefit plan design and strategy.
  • Manage implementation of vendor changes and/or plan design changes.
  • Assist with the evaluation and selection of new vendors, including leading and/or participating in any applicable RFP process.
  • Manage Labor related requirements of our disability plans.
  • Assist with the development of bargaining strategy and participate in bargaining process.
  • Manage special projects including impacts on benefits resulting from acquisitions, divestitures, legislation, etc.
  • Assure corporate compliance with laws and regulations including ERISA, etc.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Eight or more years of professional work experience.
  • Experience with Human Resources and/or Benefits Management.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in the disability benefits and/or absence space.
  • Two or more years of experience as a Benefits Manager responsible for short term and long term disability benefits.
  • Experience with Human Resources and/or Benefits Management.
  • Experience with collective bargaining benefits.
  • Familiarity with retiree health care benefits.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience with creating Sr. Leader presentations.
  • Excellent financial, numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency with data & reporting, including Excel.
  • Strong PC skills, especially with PowerPoint.
