What you’ll be doing...

You will be part of the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) Support Team, focused on developing solutions that drive the success of Verizon’s bleeding-edge Networks and Platforms. You will be innovative and will lead cross-functional activities with partners in Planning, Performance, and Engineering. A successful candidate must identify, evaluate, and drive new opportunities through an expert-level comprehension of software design, APIs, and web technologies. API driven applications are changing the way that we do operations, and the engineer will be responsible for design, build, test, and deployment of services and APIs that will be integral to the operations toolkit. You must also embrace agile methodologies and show an aptitude for being able to adapt. You will lead the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting a DevOps mindset.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience .
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Python development experience.
  • Experience with developing REST APIs using Python packages such as Flask, Swagger.
  • Experience with Automation using configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jinja2 or Salt.
  • Ability to use Python libraries such as PyEZ, Netmiko, JSNAPy.
  • Experience with Splunk for proactive monitoring and analysis.
  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Routing Protocols, Routing Platforms (Cisco/Juniper) & Optical Networks, SDN, and NFV.
  • Ability to develop Web User Interface (UI) using modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, XML, REST, JavaScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
