What you’ll be doing...

Providing complete technical oversight and project management for transport network new build and upgrade projects. These projects focus on the expansion of the existing and new EBH, dark fiber, and microwave network.

Development and issuance of RFP documents to fiber providers, managing the proposal response cycle, comparison and selection of bids through turn up of circuits.

Coordinating and communicating the implementation of TDM changes with vendors and our Network Assurance Switch personnel including maintenance window work from time to time. Night work approximately once a month on average.

Submitting and managing Funding Requests, establishing projects and ordering equipment from our vendors to support network needs for fronthaul and backhaul.

Provide technical support and project management for the design, acquisition, and implementation for all equipment supporting Network infrastructure projects including lit and dark fiber networks.

Maintaining physical and contract records in required engineering database for documentation of all fiber assets and circuits.

Vendor Management responsibility including selection, contract negotiation, RFP and ongoing relationships.

  • Provide coordination and lead calls for night time TDM circuit migrations.
  • Financial responsibility projects – follow established guidelines to bid and award service.
  • Create and manage POs from generation through receipt and closure per Verizon standards.
  • Regularly work with Implementation and other internal groups to fulfill the required orders to meet monthly and annual goals for project in-servicing.
  • Regularly work with other group’s forecasts to ensure equipment growth projects meet expectant demands in support of the company’s objectives.
  • Vendor Management responsibility including engineering/design, managing budgets, procurement, and complete project management ensuring objectives are met in accordance with stated timelines.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience
  • One or more years of experience in a Wireless or Technology related field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with production databases entering data and producing reports.
  • Experience with office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Sheets and Docs.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience in SiteTraker and FUZE SPM.
  • Working knowledge of ASR ordering systems including TESS.
  • Experience with engineering and engineering economic principles.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies:
  • DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena 6500.
  • Cisco 1k, 920 & 903 routers, ALU/Nokia 7705 & 7750 routers.
  • Digital Communications including: Fiber, Ethernet.
  • Wireless voice and data service including: EVDO, CDMA, LTE.
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, decision making skills.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, show initiative, and capability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Capability to be highly productive in a dynamic environment and manage your workflow to keep multiple tasks and projects moving to completion.
