What you’ll be doing...

The Performance Engineer works directly with the customer in understanding network performance and network performance issues. This includes providing reoccurring and ad-hoc reports using tools such as Concord and Netflow. It also includes understanding trouble tickets and working on performance related issues. In addition this role includes monitoring, managing and reports all network maintenance activities. This encompasses working with the internal team and VZ work groups to coordinate scheduled activities with an understanding of how this impacts the customer’s network. The role will work in coordination with project manager and highly technical engineers. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the customer or VZ management.

This engineer works at both the customer location in Woodlawn MD and the VZ location in Ashburn Virginia. The member will be part of a 7 member customer facing dedicated professional services program management team.

What we’re looking for...

You have knowledge of networking equipment, planning and design. You enjoy the opportunity to improve existing service and capabilities. You are interested in managing information, resources and infrastructure at an enterprise level to enable high quality service delivery to customers.

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of knowledge of Wide Area Networking and Network Performance Reporting.
  • ITIL Certification.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Background in working directly with a Federal Customer.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience with Verizon internal systems for performance and maintenance.
  • Experience managing a customer environment with multiple other contracting companies and nationwide user base.
