Verizon is building solutions for a connected world. Our physical presence at consumer activations and large public and industry events are a key part of showcasing our Brand, and products and closing transactions. These real world events provide an opportunity for customers to experience the breadth and depth of Verizon offerings, and get to know the people behind our incredible technology.

The Director will lead a high performing team focused on bringing the Verizon brand, businesses, and products to life across a wide range of activations and live events. The role and organization are charged with driving powerful customer experiences through ideation, design, and execution of best in class engagements that reflect the brand promise of changing the way people live, work and play. Key to this role are the management of stakeholder relationships across the company, a keen understanding of the Verizon matrix, and the ability to deliver on time and on budget.

This position reports into the Chief Media Officer and together they are responsible for changing the way Verizon is viewed in the marketplace through the highest profile, brand building, and business-driving events and experiences.

Overall Responsibilities include:

  • Leadership of a high performing team across the following areas: Consumer experiential marketing/ production, Business & Trade-show marketing/ production and end to end Hospitality management across Consumer and B2B programs
  • Provide team leadership including coaching, performance evaluation, planning and prioritization of initiatives decision-making and direction to team members.
  • Use expertise to evaluate, implement improvements and enhance the overall high-level customer and hospitality experience.
  • Develop opportunities and demonstrations to drive customer knowledge of company products and services by utilizing or showcasing key business technologies as part of the overall customer engagement.
  • Utilize an ROI model to ensure best utilization of company finances and assets.
  • Drive stakeholdering and collaboration across key business units integrated into each experience (I.e. Consumer, Business, Network & Technologies, Sponsorships, Verizon Media Group, Creative, etc…)

Specific Responsibilities include:

Consumer Events & Innovation

  • Drive innovation of consumer centric engagements with the Brand through 5G technology
  • Assess and/or ideate new opportunities, leveraging assets for platforms in support of 5G, Wireless, Fios, Loyalty/Access, Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight on complex operations, while achieving mass scale of Verizon Up loyalty program
  • Oversee a team of producer and designers to bring to life best in class experiential engagements across major national sports, and entertainment partnerships (NFL, NBA, Soccer, Music, e-sports, media integrations)

B2B Events & Innovation

  • Set the strategic calendar of annual Master Brand presence at global Tier 1 Corporate Events to drive key business objectives. (Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, Shanghai, US) CES, and others)
  • Translate vision into differentiated and compelling product showcases
  • Oversee and facilitate event strategy, including quality control around design and materials
  • Develop and oversee implementation and governance of company wide solution with efforts to drive consistency across entire Tier 2 – 4 event landscape

Hospitality

  • Strategize usage of Nation-wide assets, across Consumer, Business and Media groups
  • Oversee reinvention of centralized management system incorporating automation of ticketing, invitations, registration, CRM & ROI
  • Create change process and oversee communication of overall asset management and allocation of 200,000 ticket assets across business units
  • Oversight and Governance of company-wide Hospitality Guidelines & Compliance surrounding ticketing system

Other Management Requirements

  • Lead and cultivate a team that provides in-depth analysis on event and hospitality effectiveness, usage and ROI, while offering and executing flawless experiences
  • Subject matter expert providing guidance across business units for best practices and efficiencies regarding customer entertainment and event execution
  • Govern brand, creative design and content responsibility for sponsorship related invitations, merchandise, and customer gifts
  • On-going communication with key constituents/guests prior to, during, and post programs
  • Oversee a disciplined event budget process and reconciliation, as well as ongoing financial analysis
  • Management of agencies and vendors

What we’re looking for...

  • 10+ years' experience working in event management, sports/entertainment hospitality
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong creative skills, Experience with design/activation space(s)
  • Strong strategic skills – ability to leverage consumer insights into effective experiential activation
  • Strong Financial Acumen
  • Strong Project Management discipline demonstrated by a history of On-Time and On-Budget launches; Deadline oriented
  • Self-motivated individual who has an eye for detail
  • Innovative thinker and proven leader
  • Customer focused, cost sensitive, problem solver
  • Proven track record of executing flawless C-level events and documentation
  • Familiar with cross-functional problem solving based on trends and issues
  • Strong leadership and people management track record, including starting a new team, recruiting, developing team members, motivating towards action and results, measurable improvements in employee satisfaction and high morale
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of flexibility
  • Ability to balance day-to-day tactical issues with strategic initiatives
  • Ability to translate marketing strategy into an effective experiential strategy
  • Ability to work across teams (internally and with partners)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – deliver clear presentations at the most senior levels
  • Relationship driven – builds credible and trusting relationships with a broad range of colleagues, stakeholders and business partners
  • High-energy individual who can successfully manage multiple high-visibility, complex technical projects
