What you’ll be doing...

Actively participate in Engineering and Planning activities with Maintenance Engineering, Product Development and Product Planning to support both existing and new functionality as business requirements evolve and advance the interests of Verizon’s customers and operational support. Look for ways to share and cooperate with the Consumer and Business Support Teams where technologies and processes are similar or overlap. This involves working with engineering and the lab of evaluating new platforms and software to ensure the team is ready to field it and maintain it once it has been duly vetted by engineering. Also ensure the Consumer and Business Support Teams have adequate tools to support new and existing platforms, as well as recommend regular enhancements and new ways of analyzing and using data.

  • Developing analytics using multiple data sources to identify issues and further optimize the networks.
  • Analyzing data and key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic wireline networks to predict and prevent customer impacting events.
  • Creating applications used by NOCs and Tier 1 teams to alert network performance issues by validating and testing complex analytic formulas.
  • Monitoring network performance and discovering and reporting performance issues.
  • Supporting project teams and other technical teams as a technical advisor.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with network protocols and high speed data network architectures and elements.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems Management.
  • Experience in Video MPEG, RF QAM, VOD, Ad Insertion, and OTT implementations.
  • Understanding of MPEG theory, Video QAM, IPTV/ABR methodologies.
  • Understanding of the FIOS delivery and Content Delivery Networks.
  • Experience with operating systems including Windows Server, Linux RedHat, Suse Linux and SunOS.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Splunk, Spotfire, Tableau, OBIEE
  • Experience in supporting virtualized computing environments (OpenStack, VMWare). Experience working with scripting languages and automation technologies (Shell, Ansible, Python, Perl, SQL, PHP).
  • Advanced ability to diagnose server hardware, operating system, and application layer problems quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills within team and cross functional exposure with commitment to production of high quality documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of partnering with business units and operational processing.
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiating, and compromising skills.
  • Telecommunications industry experience and understanding of SIP.
  • Experience in Empirix and IntelliSight or Infinistream and analytic expertise. Netscout (Tektronix / Geoprobe) Infinistream and analytics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems that require the integration of lots of data.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve complex problems which impact customers.
