What you’ll be doing...

Network Engineer-IV function will provide surveillance/maintenance and DevOps support for Verizon’s Global Transport (Layer 0, 1 and 2) networks. Vendors and technology may include Coriant, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Ciena/Nortel and Fujitsu SONET, Ethernet, DWDM, ULH, MESH, VSAT and Digital Cross-Connect technology for both domestic and international facilities. This function works on alarm monitoring, outage management, processing trouble tickets, maintenance scheduling and providing technical assistance to Field Operations on the repair of global transport platforms.

The function is also responsible for monitoring the implementation of transport network change control activities and performs pre/post technology checks. Work as needed with IT teams and lead special projects. As a SME write process documentation and provide training when needed.

Applicant must be willing to work rotating 7x24 hour shifts. Provide technical and/or analytical support to one or more departments or work units with limited supervision; aids in the successful completion of projects within a product or functional area. Performs a variety of activities (may be technical in nature) in support of the functional processes, programs and/or services, and work independently as needed.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operations Center.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays as necessary.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, computer science, or other telecom related discipline.
  • Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operations Center including working in a shift work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate network information to both management and other organizations during network events and major, critical and catastrophic outages.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic conditions while multitasking.
  • Ability to work well within a teamwork environment.
