Join our Information Technology team where you will work on new data management technologies and find ways to meet our customers’ needs and make it easy for them to do business with us. You will lead complex operational & technical projects and work with multiple complex systems and applications. You will use your experience, expertise and skills to solve problems that are the most difficult & infrequent.

The responsibility of this position includes protecting data on our Big Data and Enterprise Data Warehouse platforms. Tools will be used to classify column level data according to confidentiality categories and solutions will be built, deployed, and used to protect data according to its sensitivity.

Data Security

  • Detect and reduce security threats using data security tools.
  • Implement Security by Design for data management.
  • Implement data security solutions that help application teams align with corporate policies, international, federal and state laws.

This position is responsible for providing technical leadership on a wide variety of Data Security projects and being a champion for the DevOps methodology for the department. This role requires expertise in multiple technical and business disciplines (security, DB design, web site development, data storage platforms, ETL data transfer processes, Reporting and Analytics SQL coding, requirements, design, and code deployment). In addition, this resource provides technical training, project coordination, and coaching to junior members of the Data Security team.

This resource will lead advanced database and web site development to support Data Security automation projects. The selected candidate will apply skills in requirements management, web and DB design, .NET and SQL development, testing, and deployment of standalone Intranet web sites.

This position develops, tests, and deploys masking and GSAM filters for access from offshore in clean room for production and BAU for development environments. Resource updates data security classification and metadata values in centralized reference tables for use by data masking automation, logging/monitoring, and metadata lookup tools.

Data Security is an evolving discipline with a plethora of industry, open source, and Verizon company software solutions to evaluate which will provide greater security and less risk to Verizon. This employee will help guide us through when it is best to use an existing solution, build another, or try open source or 3rd party solutions to meet our goals as established by the NIST-CSF framework.

This position coordinates efforts with production support, application development teams, DBAs, and other internal infrastructure teams when it relates to data security.

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, Solaris, and Windows.
  • Knowledge with firewall rules
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Communication & stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Problem solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues.
  • Programming Language(s): KSH, JAVA, .NET.
  • Software: Kerberos, Ranger, encryption protocols and technologies, Teradata data warehouses, Apache or Hortonworks Hadoop software, Informatica Test Data Management and Powercenter.
  • Excellent teamwork and also ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Eight or more years of experience in practicing data security
  • Experience in data management and data analysis in relational database and in Hadoop.
  • Experience with NLP and chatbot technology.
  • Experience with Spark, C#, Java; knowledge with SAS.
  • Strong experience in SQL and database management.
  • Security Certifications: CISSP, CCSP
  • Active confidential or higher government issued security clearance.
  • Knowledge of the wireless industry and data management activities.
