What you’ll be doing...

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and talented individual to join our Network and Technology Innovation comms team, to execute and help shape our communications strategy, promoting our industry-leading wireless and wireline network and technology innovations. The PR Manager is responsible for traditional and social media relations across multiple platforms to communicate about our network technology innovations, first to market advantage and thought leadership campaigns. The ideal candidate will establish strong partnerships with his/her peers on the team, along with leaders on the network leadership teams we support to meet key communications deliverables and support business objectives. The PR Manager will help tell compelling and impactful stories about the business, its network technology and the impact on our customers to elevate Verizon’s overall communications efforts and our brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and tell comprehensive and compelling multimedia stories that feature the Verizon wireless and wireline network experience with national media, and for our Newscenter, incorporating best practices in story creation that can be extended to the company’s leading social platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Transform creative ideas into influential, multi-dimensional campaigns.

  • Generate consistent, positive news coverage in national top tier media about our networks, including our Extreme Network campaign (severe weather response), network technology leadership campaign, and humanizing the network campaign to shape the narrative around Verizon’s network experience.

  • Lead communications strategy on independent, third party network awards.

  • Tell our leadership story around our domestic fiber and global wireline networks.

  • Lead creation of engaging content for senior network executive LinkedIn profiles.

  • Potential employee communications projects.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field, or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in journalism, communications or technology.
  • Project and program management experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Consumer technology experience.
  • Video storytelling skills.
  • Experience within a Fortune 100 environment, with a U.S.-based multinational, matrixed organization.
  • PR agency background.
  • Strong background of success generating strategic, positive news coverage and working with national media outlets.
  • Strong experience working with all levels of management, including senior executives.
  • Knowledge of best-in-class content approaches.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging social media channels/trends, and social expertise on multiple platforms.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex projects both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Highly creative with superior verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, decision making and analytical abilities.
  • Strong Powerpoint and presentation skills.
