What you’ll be doing...

Our mediation applications enable Verizon to bill ~$2-3B of 'usage or event-based' traffic to our enterprise, public and business customer base. This traffic can be anything from traditional LD - whether it is a long distance call to a customers 800 number, call center utilization, or a video teleconference with thousands of participants. The applications are designed to process high data volumes with billions of events monthly and are complex in nature. The mediation process includes collection, correlation, edit and enhance, duplicate elimination, and distribution to the appropriate billing engine for invoicing. In addition these applications serve to provide near real time visibility to our internal and external customers into the network and underlying traffic patterns. This visibility enables our customers to most effectively manage their internal operation. You will be part of an integral team with security, finance, revenue, billing and networkthat provides services to our customers, develops and design new products, and keeps our operation humming along efficiently. Devops methodologies are in widespread use as we continue to work towards improving our responsiveness in this highly dynamic and competitive marketplace.

You'll be :

  • Leading a global team of analysts and developers - helping the team to perform iteration planning, use case prioritization, and effective resource utilization across the application portfolio. This will include removing barriers and solving problems to help them be productive and deliver committed work on time.
  • Interacting with our global delivery teams and providing appropriate guidance and ensuring tight integration using agile processes
  • Managing vendor resources and ensuring that the team devliers successfully
  • Ensuring that security and associated compliance activities are prioritized and cared for
  • Supporting application cloud migration activities
  • Participating and guiding the re-engineering and architectures of the mediation applications as new business demands arise
  • Negotiating user stories with internal and external clients
  • Developing highly available applications and service stacks in the production environment
  • Ensuring that our employees are developing the talent and skills required to remain current with requisite technologies

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading virtual teams
  • Experience leading software development teams

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in computer science or computer engineering.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Software development experience in a diverse set of areas including scalable web applications, iOS platform app development, web services, message queues, Scalable C programming.
  • Experience in project management including waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience in leading/managing Software projects/development teams.
  • Experience triaging/handling high pressure customer end user/requests.
  • Experience with performance tuning, scalability and availability.
  • Significant experience in software development cycle.
  • Hands on experience in Java/J2EE application development including experience leading a technical team in such web technologies.
  • Experience in a DevOps software development environment.
  • Experience migrating web applications to Cloud (AWS, Oracle Cloud or Cloud Foundry etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of Docker/Container technologies.
  • Experience with Sales and Supply chain systems, logistics, Customer Engagement & CRM systems.
