What you’ll be doing...

The primary purpose of your role will be to support the IBM MFaaS contract which governs the operational elements of IBM (TGS) charged with providing daily technical/tactical support for the Verizon Wireline and Wireless mainframe platform operating system, subsystems and business application workloads.

  • Assist senior level Governance team members with the management of the IBM/Verizon relationship as it pertains to the mainframe platform.
  • Assist with strategic planning for the mainframe platform. Evaluating Verizon business requirements and then translating these requirements into IBM manipulations of the hardware/software/services such that business requirements are met within the context of the MFaaS contract.
  • Monitor costs associated with MFaaS contract to ensure that Verizon meets its financial objectives with regard to the engagement. Ensure that monthly/annual charges are in alignment with resource consumption patterns.
  • Work with the IBM MFaaS team, communicating and reporting on aspects of the relationship to ensure that it is functionally optimally in support of Verizon.
  • Support functional discipline(s) associated with the MFaaS relationship (Disaster Recovery, software, storage, hardware OS/software subsystems, Performance and Capacity planning, financials, etc.).
  • Work with Verizon applications teams and business units to ensure that their IT requirements are represented in the MFaaS planning.
  • Negotiate changes to the MFaaS contract, SOWs (Stmts. of Work), amendments, and requests for services that bring maximum value to Verizon.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of mainframe experience or familiarity with computing platform.
    • Operations or technical support.
    • Production mgmt. (batch mgmt.., scheduling).
    • Hardware/site support.
    • Network engineering.
    • Security (RACF, Firewall, encryption, network cipher, etc.).
    • Database support (DB2, ADABAS, IMS).
    • Performance and capacity planning.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and are comfortable presenting material to a group.
  • Negotiating experience.
  • Spreadsheet organization, interpretation and presentation skills.
  • Power Point/slide show experience building and presenting.
  • Great team player capabilities, quick learner, ability to take direction from peers as well as management team members
  • Strategic and tactical planning skills.
  • Budget and financial planning skills.
  • Familiarity with contract origination and maintenance as well as the enforcement and amendment processes.
