What you’ll be doing...

Systems Assurance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the improvements, functionality, upgrades, maintenance and performance optimization of switching, data, routing, and peripheral equipment associated with the Mobile Switching Center (MSC). Systems Assurance Engineer is expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision and participate in cross-functional projects. It is of utmost importance to work well with others, with high levels integrity, as an individual contributor, in a team environment.

Other duties include:

  • Oversee upgrades, improvements, testing and troubleshooting on voice and data network platforms.
  • Coordinate upgrades, improvmenets, optimization, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities (fiber, Ethernet, OCn, T3, T1, and DSO).
  • Ensure system applications are at their peak performance.
  • Provide optimal customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide network support to a varied user community in multiple time zones.
  • Update daily logs with site-specific information.
  • Compose clear and concise reports for system documentation.
  • Become expert in wireless voice and data system applications, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Work and train comfortably in virtual environments (by phone, online, and video).
  • Responsible for the advanced installation, operation & maintenance of the data network elements, ensuring network integrity & quality at Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) including building maintenance.
  • These networks include but are not limited to LTE elements, routers, multilayer switches, & Ethernet backhaul.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, upgrading, administering these platforms & multiple vendor systems; maintaining system, element & platform applications; & providing support to a varied user community; updating daily logs with site-specific information, and composing clear & concise reports for system documentation.

  • DSO / NNO / VZB support (P, PE, Brocade, Firewall, ISP links, EDN & COIN links, VCP, eNSE, MSE)

Expected to perform work with minimum supervision & participate in cross-functional projects, as scheduled.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IUP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP and other LAN/WAN protocols.
  • Knowledge of data transmission facilities such as 1G, 10G, 100G & native Ethernet & SONET.
  • Programming & computer skills with emphasis on applications.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Certifications such as CCENT, CCNA or CCNP.
  • Knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment.
  • Knowledge of transmission facilities (dark and lit fiber services, Ethernet, OCn, T3, T1, and DSO).
  • Knowledge of routers and firewalls.
  • The qualified candidate must be a positive, self-motivated, engaged team player who has demonstrated success collaborating across teams.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and thorough; possess troubleshooting skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to respond well to critical situations and think creatively to find solutions to problems.
  • Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: data networking & communications, wireless technologies, digital communications, operating systems & applications, telecommunications and/or power distribution.
  • Experience in AD/DC power systems, HVAC, dark fiber, Nokia/Lucent CDMA, Ericsson LTE, Fuji DACS, Comverse voicemail platform, Linux, OpenStack, Containers, SDN / NFV.
  • Training or experience in at least 2 of the following areas:
    • Data communications.
    • Digital communications.
    • Operating systems and applications.
    • Telecommunications.
    • Networking or router support.
    • Working knowledge of AC and DC power rectification and battery systems.
    • Project management.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and on-call rotation including nights and weekends as necessary
