What you’ll be doing...

Individual will lead all aspects of the Business Continuity & Event Management (BCEM) planning program for the GTS organization. The planning program ensures Verizon’s ability to respond to an emergency by quickly restoring or relocating critical business processes in the event of a disaster or other business interruption.

  • Lead global critical center plan exercises annually across 12 locations. Includes coordinating meetings with multiple stakeholders, documenting procedures and facilitating practice runs.
  • Maintain, review and gain executive approval of program deliverables and requirements throughout the calendar year. Includes reviews of 150+ documents with sign-off by 40+ high-level executives.
  • As a member of Verizon’s Incident Management Team, address special alerts and incidents by assessing and providing status of impacts or risks to staff or operations, promptly respond to StormCon activations, communicate all Critical Center Plan (CCP) activations, and evaluate event assessment reports for potential impact to employee safety or BAU operations.
  • Coordinate labor continuity and contingency planning initiatives, providing labor activity updates to leadership (monthly during non-work stoppage and daily during any work stoppage event). During any strike event, run the emergency operations center, supervise up to 15 force coordinators and direct the help desk for all deployed employees.
  • Identify and train 20+ emergency preparedness coordinators in key locations across the enterprise.
  • Create high level executive status communications for business continuity deliverables and during any crisis events.
  • Develop training material and facilitate training sessions for 25+ business continuity planners and business unit representatives.
  • Create, maintain and update program documentation to include schedules, guidelines and detailed instructions for planners/business unit representatives.

What we’re looking for...

In partnership with Verizon business units, this individual should be able to identify the aspects of Verizon operations (business functions, network infrastructure and technology, critical facilities and vendors) and ensure business continuity plans are assessed annually.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in current BC/DR planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk analyses, business impact analysis, business continuity and disaster recovery plan development and plan testing.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree or master’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the efforts of business continuity and emergency response programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business including executive management.
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment, at times under stressful conditions, with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with internal resources.
  • Strong analytical and independent thought process to assess changing environments and circumstances and manage ambiguity with limited guidance.
  • Excellent team player that can resolve conflict and offer solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Strong computer skills including use of the Google suite of productivity and collaboration tools and the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel and be on-call if necessary.
  • Globally recognized Business Continuity certification (DRII or other).
  • Technical experience in network and/or IT operations.
