What you’ll be doing...

The RF Engineer contributes to the RF Design of the regional wireless (LTE ) network including: search area issuance, candidate assessment and approvals, redesigning of a mature network to minimize capacity constraints, work with Network Operations to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place, partnering with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls, Ineffective Attempts, Failed connection attempts, Dropped Connections, RRC setup failures, RRC Drops, Context Setup Failures, and Context Drops, preparing timely FCC/FAA and FAS submissions using Fuze and Site Tracker, conducting data analysis of drive data by conducting drive testing for potential sites, new site integration, and system optimization, performing radio engineering evaluation for system planning and site acquisition, creating and using RF propagation and planning tools, conducting and overseeing field tests for potential sites, planning frequency assignments and identifying technical parameters for network growth, documenting and reporting findings, identifying location-specific needs for new cells, evaluating coverage problems and new service area requirements for coverage cells, identifying causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with system performance, attending zoning hearings in support of new cell site acquisitions, contributing in the development of long-term build plans, performing Macro/Micro Cell Design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of LTE and assisting in the training and development of new RF and Associate RF Engineers. Responsible to ensure proper documentation is provided for regulatory filing and EME compliance. Communicate the traffic plan with the RF design team. Compile RF budget and communicate the 3-year plan with the Engineering team.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Knowledge in several of the following platforms and/or technologies: LTE, CDMA, EVDO.
  • Experience in Radio Frequency System Design for: LTE, CDMA, EVDO.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or in a related field.
  • Experience with Atoll, Site Tracker, Google Earth, Mapinfo, FCC/ULS, NCWS, ELPT, APT, MPT, RTT, Call Mapper, Neighbor List tool, Network Geographics.
  • Cell site infrastructure including: NSN, Samsung, and Ericsson.
  • Wireless data service including: LTE, CDMA 2000, CSD, STP.
  • Experience in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Google Suite.
  • Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform with general guidance and a thorough understanding of the job and the department's expectations and goals.
