We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team that supports our global customer base. Tier 3 engineers in this team are key members of our Security Operations Center and are highly skilled in the field covering areas such as security analytics, change & incident management. Candidates ideally have prior SOC experience and understand the demands of this dynamic environment, and possess a number of technical certifications to reinforce their practical experience.

In this position you will be supporting customers as an expert on various security products and services. You will be serving as an internal escalation point to the 2nd line SOC team for the more complex incidents or changes. Further you will be working closely together with other groups such as network operations centers, client service management, customer security teams and vendor support.

  • Provide Third Level Support - Serve as an escalation path for complex incidents and change requests. Close collaboration with customers and vendors through mail or conference calls.
  • Prepare, plan and execute software upgrades to address critical bugs, vulnerabilities or EOL announcements.
  • Perform root cause analysis for reoccurring or high impacting incidents, assist with proposing and implementing structural solutions.
  • Creation of procedures, training / operations manuals, Documentations.
  • Serve as the Operational Subject Matter expert for specified Security platforms.
  • Lead internal projects, such as supporting the launch and incubation phase of new products and services.
  • Close interaction with IT development around bugs and platform enhancements.
  • Liaise with senior management and other Verizon teams.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or similar discipline or relevant work experience.
  • Experience as a security engineer or similar role.
  • Knowledge of two or more multiple security products such as Palo Alto FW, Fortinet FortiGate, Checkpoint NG, Juniper SRX, Cisco ASA/FirePower, McAfee Web/FW, Bluecoat Proxy, F5 LTM/ASM, zScaler and or Netskope.
  • Fluency in English.

Even better if you have:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Security or similar discipline.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic environments.
  • Capability to excel in ticket management and serve as an example to the team.
  • Four or more years of experience as a security engineer or similar role.
  • Experience with security analytics, threat incident handling, and familiarity with tools, methods and techniques used by hackers and penetration testers.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and identify gaps.
  • Ability to be proactive in engaging with customers, client executives and Verizon management teams.
  • Experience with IAAS services on Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in German language
  • Experience handling SIEM technologies.
  • Hold relevant certifications such as:
    • ITIL
    • Splunk
    • CISSP, CISM, SANS GIAC, CEH.
    • Network Management related certifications.
    • Security Platform Management related certifications.
