What you’ll be doing...

The Tech Lead-System Admin is responsible for the in-depth support and deployment of software packages across multiple environments as well as the ability to work with a group of peers. The Tech Lead-System Admin must be able to collaborate with several geographically diverse development and operational teams, to deliver new software projects from development to production. In addition to providing thorough support during normal business hours, the admin might be required to provide on-call support and work on rotating shift schedules. The ideal candidate must have the ability to think quickly, respond appropriately to alerts/issues, work on his/her own and do deep dives on critical issues. The Tech Lead-System Admin will be a Subject Matter Expert for different applications and services.

Responsibilities:
Provide Application Operations support as an Application SME
Build and Maintain Application server environments
Configuration and support of application-level monitors (Jenkins, Nagios, Splunk, Cloud Watch, among others)
Troubleshoot application errors or reported issues, in all environments, using available tools and collaborating with other teams when appropriate.
Work closely with the development teams to implement changes and resolve issues
Adhere to operational best practices in a high transactional environment
Communicate with stakeholders (Project team, tech leadership) regarding status of project deliverables, problem resolution, and post mortem root cause analysis of issues.
Manage and perform the process of deploying new systems and client applications, maintain and perform upgrades to existing systems in the multi-location lab environment
Manage technical trials end to end, including working with sourcing, vendors, and other internal teams, define requirements, architecture, guidelines, and objectives in a cross functional team environment
Working continuously on improving the systems, application, and infrastructure, as well as processes.
Responsible for creating architecture documentation, including server, application, storage, and monitoring design, as well as establishing requirements for network, firewall, and load balancing.
Work with cross-organizational teams to identify business requirements of new solutions, as well as research and identify solutions that meet current business needs based on predefined criteria of usability, Performance, and Cost analysis
Maintain and update lab architecture diagrams and documentation, procedures
Use defect tracking and issue reporting systems to receive, manage, and respond to lab issues reported by users or automation / monitoring tools established to ensure highest level of availability achievable in the lab environment
At Ease, Effective Verbal and Written Communication. Ability to explain deployment, usage, and troubleshooting instructions, conduct online and in person training, and write sound technical documentation

What we’re looking for...

5+ years of experience providing Tier 2 (or higher) application support for online media, cloud service, and storage solutions
4 years or more of configuration and administration of the following:.Net
JBoss
Apache httpd
Apache Tomcat
Redhat Linux

2 or more years of scripting experience (any language) and automation capabilities including strong shell scripting (Power Shell and Java preferred)
1+ year experience with SQL, MySQL or Oracle
2 or more years of experience evaluating and providing improvement recommendations for IT solutions
Must have experience in web operations, supporting cloud hosted websites
Experience supporting REST/SOAP services
Mid to High-level Linux and Windows administration skills required
Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture designs and processes
Experience and understanding of Agile Methodology
Experience and knowledge of the software testing and development life cycles
Experience working within change management procedures and compliance
Understanding of typical load balancing approaches and configuration, Firewall operation, including network and port translation troubleshooting
Ability to work well under pressure in a large, complex and fast evolving environment
BA/BS in CS, CIS or other IT degree program or equivalent development experience
Analytical and complex problem solving skills, and self-learning, Strong ability to rapidly narrow down software bugs in complex environments

Desired Requirements / Skills:
Knowledge of MS IIS, .NET Framework environments, Cassandra DB, Mongo DB, Redis, RDS, Kubernetes, MS clustering, MS SQL with in depth knowledge of installation, configuration, tuning, and ongoing administration of the above technologies
At least 3 years of experience in VMware ESX, VCenter, Vmotion cloud management, and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environments
At least 2 years of experience with storage solutions including SAN, NAS, and NoFS solutions
Knowledge of Verizon’s FIOS, ONT, BHR, home network and IT OSS/BSS systems
Good Knowledge of Video and Audio compression techniques and transmission protocols over broadcast and IP networks.
