What you’ll be doing...

You’ll join the Network Equipment Repair Team where you will be responsible for overseeing third-party repair and warranty returns for network equipment. This equipment is reused throughout the network and allows for nearly $300M in new purchase cost avoidance. You’ll be part of a team of individuals who work daily with OEMs, third party vendors, and engineering teams to process a high volume of repairs and improve quality to bolster network reliability. While maintaining day to day operations is imperative, you’ll also develop and manage large scale transformational projects/programs to transform the way we do business.

  • Partner with third parties to ensure repair capabilities for select network equipment.
  • Monitor vendor performance on a range of KPIs to measure on-time delivery and repair quality.
  • Work with FP&A to perform budget variance analysis (BVA). Ensure volumes sent through repair process and warehouse stay within budget guidelines.
  • Issue RFPs for new equipment pricing and improvements over existing pricing.
  • Develop continuous improvement programs featuring quarterly business reviews and other periodic check-ins to foster an environment of constant communication and collaboration.
  • Provide input and drive IT improvement initiatives to ensure the right tools are in place for program success.
  • Continue ongoing programs to provide better visibility into repair orders.
  • Develop dashboards to enhance reporting by utilizing vendor supplied component level repair data which will enable better future engineering and sourcing decisions.
  • Enhance current systems to allow for repair order process automation and reduce manual efforts.
  • Develop management-by-exception tools by utilizing technology to flag data abnormalities.
  • Benchmark Verizon to other vendors in and out of industry using metrics such as TL9000.
  • Develop and deliver executive level presentations for monthly readouts and strategic initiative updates.
  • Proactively engage stakeholders to ensure current and future needs are met.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of transformative programs.
  • Continually improve knowledge base of network equipment and repair capabilities.
  • Work with field teams to effectively communicate proper handling for equipment based on vendor feedback.
  • Handle billing and auditing on a monthly basis in the VZ ERP system.
  • Request and maintain purchase orders for all repair vendors and OEM's.
  • Lead ad-hoc analysis requests from Reverse Supply Chain leadership team and Maintenance engineering teams.
  • Identify and execute re-certification of returned decommissioned assets from the field.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on planned decoms to ensure proper treatment of decommissioned assets
  • Lead monthly process and data improvement calls with the Verizon warehouse.
  • Constantly analyzing the quality of repairs from all repair vendors and making recommendations based on that analysis.
  • Identifying PCN's (Product change notices) and working with maintenance engineering on the implementation of the needed PCN's.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering executive communications via knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing vendors, issuing RFPs and negotiating contract terms like pricing.
  • Familiarity with ERP and/or inventory tracking/planning systems, such as SAP, PeopleSoft, CATS, COEP, etc.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or relevant field.
  • Results oriented and deadline driven mindset.
  • Proven program/project management success.
  • Reverse supply chain and/or repair experience.
  • PMI certification.
  • Ability to apply data analytic techniques to pinpoint opportunities and design and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to engage and influence collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple cross functional teams on many different ongoing projects at the simultaneously.
  • The personality and character to foster a firm but fair relationship with our external vendors and OEMs.
