What you’ll be doing...

As the Lead Engineer for the Manhattan FTTP/CORE Design team you will help drive operational excellence across our organization by ensuring that the appropriate network parts are in the right place at the right time. Leveraging records, processes and policies to optimize procedures will create additional value for our company – and you will lead these efforts.

  • You will be supporting the engineer's in their daily functions and providing guidance and leadership within the group.
  • The role encompasses various tasks that relate to the Fiber to the Premise buildout in Manhattan.
  • This role requires analyzing data via our MMS system reports along with utilizing the various Planning and Engineering tools to maintain a healthy pipeline for our forces to construct.
  • You will also be required to take work with external engineering vendors and aggressively push them for optimal efficiency as it relates to Outside Plant Engineering request.
  • Your will work closely with you peers in Scheduling & Operations to ensure all targets are being addressed and on schedule for year-end targets.
  • A strong leader who will take risks and be innovative in Verizon 2.0. Communicating with others will be monumental in your daily life as a Lead Engineer.
  • You know that different team members and stockholders have different needs and you flex your style and approach to be most effective.
  • You will need to recognize that peers and counterparts rely on your knowledge and experience and will come to you for advice and counsel for OSP Engineering ideas and practices.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or in a related field.
  • Outside Plant Engineering, Construction, or Installation Experience.
  • Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Experience with MicroStation applications, and Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Excel/MS Access).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to make network design decisions based on recommended Engineering Guidelines and design criteria.
  • Ability to interact with customers effectively in order to communicate and explain our service order process and the method of delivery.
  • Analytical and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
