What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Consumer Distribution Strategy organization is responsible for synthesizing the business unit’s overarching sales, marketing, and customer experience strategies into a plan of action for Verizon’s physical retail distribution channels (corporate owned, agents, and National Retailers).

As the Senior Manager, you will work closely with senior leadership in the consumer sales organization and make evidence-based recommendations regarding the quantity and placement of stores, corporate ownership decisions, and the prioritization of capital investment.

You will lead a team of strategists, researchers, and data scientists to turn their plans and insights into the interactive tools and knowledge-bases that we and our partners rely upon to make informed distribution choices. In addition to integration in the distribution planning process, this team researches, proposes, and implements tools and initiatives that drive profitability and competitive advantage in Verizon’s sales channels.

In order to develop effective tools, your team will need a solid understanding of our audience’s needs and the use cases that have to be solved. The team will use this understanding to lay out the requirements for these tools and to guide vendors and Verizon employees in implementing them. You’ll lead stakeholdering, training, and enhancement of these tools, and will work closely with the execution teams in the Sales and Operations organizations.

This role requires many of the skills and analytical capabilities that business intelligence and IT organizations value, while bringing you closer to the core decision making and executing wings of the business.

The Senior Manager provides a consistent level of leadership, partnership, and executive visibility for the Retail Distribution Strategy work. You will present your work directly to an audience of Market and HQ VPs and Directors, and will work consistently with the Area Distribution Senior Managers and the Operations Directors they report to in order to develop and manage an optimization and growth plan for each CMA.

You have a strong focus on strategy, operational processes, and customer experience; ideally, you've worked in or led a strategy team in the past. You’re analytical and process oriented, which helps you understand the needs of your internal customers. You have the ability to drive results at all levels with a proven record of performance and trusted professional credibility. You’re passionate about a career that allows you to recommend strategic decisions and immediately support their successful implementation.

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience - degree in IT, business intelligence, finance, real estate or a related discipline preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Work experience in, or highly relevant to, retail in the wireless industry.
  • A working background in business intelligence platforms and tools (especially geospatial tools like ArcGIS).
  • Previous work experience directly supporting one of Verizon Wireless’s consumer sales channels.
  • A working familiarity with relational databases
  • Excellent executive presentation skills.
  • A high degree of proficiency with M.S. Office tools, particularly Excel.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with, understand, and manage data

Even better if you have:

  • Prior experience in, or leading, a strategy team
  • An MBA, or an M.S. in a related field (e.g., Finance, Real Estate, Cartography, etc)
  • 3-5 years experience in Geospatial Analytics
  • Working familiarity with data manipulation and automation tools, like Alteryx.
