What you’ll be doing...

The Wireless Network Management Center (WNMC) is seeking driven a highly driven Supervisor to join our team. The WNMC operates 24x7 to provide continuous management and support of the wireless network. Supervisors must be willing to work any shift.

  • NMC Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing operations of Verizon Wireless voice and data network infrastructure and all network components
  • Manage NMC Technicians to assure high quality service to Verizon Wireless customers by diagnosing and correcting all network troubles
  • Actively build relationships with Field Engineers and Management
  • Provide timely coaching and feedback for Technicians
  • Prioritize and assign daily workloads for all direct reports
  • Conduct performance evaluations for all direct reports
  • Provide timely and accurate network technical assistance to external teams by communicating technical details and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and executive management teams during network events and major outages.
  • Respond to after-hours call outs on a 24-hour basis
  • Participate in meetings and/or conference calls concerning problem resolution. In addition, scheduling of special projects
  • Handle customer and network troubles when escalated
  • Provide input for the Methods and Procedures documentation
  • Identify automation possibilities
  • Provide accurate time reporting and tracking; assuring ongoing quality development, maintenance and security of all network components
  • Proactively monitor and develop innovative solutions
  • Support the safety and disaster-preparedness program.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of experience in the relevant filed.
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: telecommunications, network operations, and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of LTE networks and 1X to 5G technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cloud and Virtualized solutions (OpenStack/VMWare).
  • Scripting with Python, No-JS, Perl, or equivalent languages
  • Knowledge of the NMC operating environment.
  • Knowledge of communications software such as Windows, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of all major cellular switching, sub-systems, data networks, and power systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic telephony and network architecture.
  • Working knowledge of switching fundamentals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjust to priority changes.
  • Commitment to quality and the motivation and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Alarm correlation and automation experiences
  • Working knowledge of the following technologies and/or platforms: Advanced voice switch/cell infrastructure experience including Alcatel Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, and Ericsson
  • Data elements including: Routers (Regional Agg., E911, EDN, WDN, IPBH), switches (EDN, IPBH,) MLS, PDSN, ATM network
  • Digital communications including:DS1, DS3, Fiber, and Microwave
  • Operating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, MS Office
  • Computer support experience including: PC hardware and configurations, troubleshooting
  • Power experience including: Galaxy, Lorain, DC distribution systems, troubleshooting
  • Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP.
  • Knowledge of adjunct platforms, Alcatel Lucent Any path, Comverse Insight/Trilogue, SS7, STPs, HLRs andE911.
