What you’ll be doing...

Support Verizon’s sustainability goals and drive costs out of the business through energy efficiency rebates and data analytics. Candidate’s primary responsibility is to realize $5M annually in rebates back to Verizon. This position will supervise a team to research and identify applicable utility rebates with various state and utility agencies, drive measurement and verification requirements, prepare estimated energy saving analyses, and file associated applications in order to maximize incentive of qualifying projects. This position will also support Verizon’s Energy Team through sales tax exemptions, high/low consumption variances and zero recoverables. The candidate will identify state sales tax exemption status and file certificates with utilities and state tax boards. High/low usage requires analysis of individual account usage patterns, determine impact to business, and work to resolve operational issue or fix billing error. Zero recoverables, returns to cash for erroneous utility payments, includes confirmation that meter and account do not belong to Verizon, preparing a report for the portion paid in error, creating an invoice, documenting research and tracking payment status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic member of Energy Team whose primary focus is to reduce Verizon’s One or more billion dollars annual utility expenditures.
  • Communicate to upper management performance of rebate program towards multimillion dollar annual objective.
  • Advisement of various incentive programs to show trends in rebates by type and geography.
  • Interface directly with Facilities Management, Design & Construction and Infrastructure personnel to review job scopes and identify rebate opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with over 400 utilities across the nation to keep on the forefront of trends, regulations, and changes in their programs.
  • Supervise small team of Rebate Analysts, conduct training and develop team members.
  • Independently resolve challenges in qualifying for rebates and assign resources.
  • Prioritize and delegate workload focusing on highest value projects compared to resources available.
  • Manage pre and post inspections of energy conservation measures, ensuring all measurement requirements are fulfilled.
  • Evaluate equipment manufacturer’s drawings and cut sheets to determine if it meets rebate criteria, and estimate the associated rebate potential.
  • Develop and run energy screening models to calculate energy payback analysis.
  • Suggest alternative project materials that meet rebate criteria in cases where products presented failed to meet the criteria.
  • Track overall program including monthly status reporting of applications, job construction and post completion paperwork.
  • Review data for trend/patterns to recommend future energy conservation technologies on a national rollout level.
  • Develop templates and forms to streamline processes and document identified process enhancements.
  • Provide guidance to peers, vendors, and internal customers.

    • Prepare report with eligible accounts
    • Provide space use break out and backup documents
    • Submit claim to Utility agencies for exemption
  • Review High/Low Usage Outliers
    • Determine which need operational attention vs. billing corrections
    • Track value added associated with research
  • Manage Zero Recoverable Program
    • Work with Utility Verification Portal team
    • Verify accounts/meters belonging to Verizon vs. another carrier
    • Confirm with cell tech, document research
    • Run report and prepare invoice for reimbursement
    • Track results

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Processing utility rebates experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Experience developing charts/graphs and creating presentations.
  • Knowledge of electric, gas and water utility billing components.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, drive results and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
