What you’ll be doing...

SDN (Software-Defined Networking) Planning group under Verizon Network Technology and Planning organization is looking for self-motivated and innovative engineer in support of Verizon SDN Planning Team. As a senior-level member of technical staff, you will be interacting with software engineers, network/system operations staff, network/system architects, ME labs, Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) Device Planning and vendor partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work in SAFe Agile role supporting Base Network Controller (BNC) and how it relates to iEN services and infrastructure requirements.
  • Create JIRA and/or Agile Central stories and facilitate discussion between IT, developers and the various Planning teams.
  • Support IT UAT and resolve any issues encounter during BNC NC UAT testing working with IT and the SDN Architecture and Development team.
  • Coordinate with Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) Device Planning (MSE, UT, Core, NGPON2) to capture their requirements for BNC and work with the SDN Architecture and Development team to ensure it will be supported and cared for.
  • Develop Base Network Controller (BNC) roadmap and keep it up to date based on the SAFe program timelines and working with the SDN architecture and development team

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Planning, architecture, product development, or program management experience

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with modern data communication technology discipline.
  • A SAFe Agile certification.
  • Experience with agile software development.
  • Ability to communicate across iEN architecture topics and understand as they relate to the BNC and quickly determine if development is needed and what level of development is needed.
  • Ability to understand priority at any given moment based on objectives and assess as hot items come up and determine which issues need to be addressed.
  • Understanding wireline and wireless network management, control, provisioning, and service assurance.
  • Familiar with L2/L3 switching, signaling protocols, routing protocols and technologies (e.g., IP, MPLS, BGP, Ethernet, spine/leaf architectures, etc.).
  • Strong written/verbal communications
  • Detailed knowledge of Verizon data networks such as: CPA, SES, Converged Core, PIP, Public IP and/or MPLS.
  • Detailed knowledge of Verizon Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) and the elements that make up the iEN network.
  • Experience in software and product life cycle and corresponding processes.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept to implementation.
  • Knowledge of Verizon Infrastructure back office systems such as: ICON, Nautilus, CoFEE, Provisioning Gateway.
  • SDN knowledge and development experience.
  • An organized, detail-oriented project leader that can engage many people across multiple organizations.
  • Willingness to travel.
