What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Value-Based Marketing (VBM) consumer organization is responsible for almost $60B in annual revenues for Verizon’s home and mobile services. We build and operate marketing technology solutions to help drive innovation and efficiency into the organization, to enable the best possible customer marketing experiences, and to maintain and grow that revenue stream.

As part of the VBM Marketing Enablers team, the Solutions Architect will take marketing technology solutions from conception to completion. This includes developing problem statements, determining the best potential solution(s), building qualitative and quantitative justifications, and socializing and iterating on those solutions with stakeholders. When solutions are identified and alignment is reached, the Solutions Architect will bring those solutions through the design, development, and delivery process, ultimately creating new functionality and capabilities for the marketing organization.

You will work closely with the VBM broader team and partners (e.g., IT, channels, finance, legal) as well as any applicable external technology/solution partners to ensure all needs are translated into detailed requirements. Depending on the solution, you may have project- and program-level support from both internal and external parties, but will ultimately be the single point-of-contact for VBM, interacting with all levels from various teams on a regular basis.

The Solutions Architect is the center of gravity for critical initiatives within VBM; a well-rounded resource who has skills in strategy, technical analysis and solutions design, all the way through to project management and cross-functional team leadership. Responsible, in short, for “getting it done.”

Other responsibilities include:

  • Turning program/project ideas into compelling narratives on business need, business value, and customer experience.
  • Designing and driving the development of solutions to meet customer and business needs.
  • Translating program/project strategies and business goals into detailed requirements.
  • Ensuring the cross-functional delivery and development team has a complete understanding of the business and user needs; objectively considering all perspectives and broker prioritization negotiations whenever needed.
  • Scoping and prioritizing activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Facilitating the ongoing review and iteration of development work to ensure the business and user needs continue to be met by the proposed solution.
  • Serving as the Single Point of Contact for IT architects, Release Train Engineer, and developers on requests and work associated with program; reviewing and signing off on final test cases.
  • Creating and maintaining buy-in for program/project vision, acting as an evangelist to build awareness of and understanding about in-flight solutions and their impact on business health.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert on a broad range of issues related to VBM’s marketing strategies, operations, and technical capabilities, and ensure that solutions remain aligned with key priorities.
