Verizon Connect is looking for a Principal Security Architect to assist in the creation and of an information security architecture that defines the technology, procedures and processes required to address the organization’s security needs.

The Principal Security Architect will design security solutions to complement the information technology architecture while integrating with the business’s global architecture. This framework will provide for the secure operation of computing platforms, operating systems, and networks, for IT, R&D, and Production environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Continually evaluate vendors’ product strategies and future product statements, and advise which will be most appropriate to pursue.
  • Define objectives, technical work, and timelines for developing various security architectures, roadmaps, and requirements that are aligned with legal and organizational compliance policies.
  • Develop expertise to function as subject matter expert in multiple technical or business disciplines.
  • Develops strong partnerships with business clients, engineering groups, application developers, software vendors and other technical resources.
  • Communicate progress, findings, and ensure successful handoff of deliverables to program and operational teams.
  • Work directly with Security Engineers to define requirements for the implementation of new security tools and services.
  • Communicate project roadmaps and proposed strategies to management and other business stakeholders.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in a security architect or related role.
  • Working knowledge, concerning the best practices and uses of security devices at all levels of a typical defense in depth strategy, (e.g., Firewalls, EDR/AV, Email Security, IDS/IPS, SEIM, WAF, FIM, CASB, DLP, Cloud Services, etc.).
  • Knowledge of threats and vulnerabilities associated with application, cloud, operating system, and network security.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and product solutions.
  • Working knowledge of compliance standards such as PCI, CIS, GDPR and SOC 2.
  • Knowledge of current, popular attack vectors including phishing, drive-by downloads, exploit kits, and server exploitation.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • Experience working with AWS security services.
  • Experience working on complex networking architecture.
  • Experience working with mobile security solutions.
  • Experience working with various DLP monitoring and prevention tools.
  • CISSP, SANS, and other security related certifications.
  • Ability to work across geographical locations.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Ability to plan and manage projects.
  • Willingness to travel.
