What you’ll be doing...

The support of the Verizon Revenue Recognition Application (VRR) requires staffing a production support team to support day to day operations. You role will be geared to not only support current production for Verizon revenue, but you will also work in cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements throughout 2019 and beyond to support Verizon’s ever-changing product and system landscape.

  • As a People leader, you will guide the team in the support of the new Revenue Recognition program at Verizon. Maintain scalable architectures from complex data sets across multiple platforms to ensure business reporting agility. Your responsibilities include root cause analysis, management communication in partnership with Revenue Accounting, FP&A, and the IT Data Warehouse team. Continuously develop and enhance the understanding of existing data infrastructure and source systems, as well as new technologies, tools, and methods in data management.
  • As a People Leader, your focus will be on coaching and mentoring team members. Provide feedback based on a depth of functional knowledge of the application(s) supported and interdependencies.
  • Develop and deliver data-driven solutions to support business needs and analytics. Lead cross-functional data strategies and provides subject matter expertise to cross-functional teams. Provide recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility as driven by the business need for knowledge and decision. Use a variety of data visualization/presentation tools to support self-service analytics or to aggregate data for management presentations.
  • Project Management: As part of CSG, participate in cross-functional project teams to define the development and execution of architectures, policies, practices, and procedures to support and manage the organization’s information lifecycle. Further, you will be responsible for providing project-level recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility, data cleansing/transformation, governance, and overall application design and data management strategies.
  • Utilize advanced data mining techniques to analyze large data sets with the goal of understanding data for use in data mapping, data transformation and system/business rules. Quickly come up to speed with new data sources, data models for use in data exploration.
  • As a People Leader, you will be responsible for leading the team in understanding and improving the Revenue Recognition Application to ensure the continued functionality of Verizon Enterprise-level Revenue Systems, including validation, testing, business rule development, and system design.
  • Solve data and reporting issues using intermediate SQL scripts and other query tools to make logical connections between varied data sources to obtain desired results.
  • Document Revenue Recognition business processes and organize the information into understandable documents.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as the SME for the Revenue Recognition Application (VRR) to define the development and execution of new revenue recognition policies, practices, architectures, and procedures.
  • Gather Revenue Recognition Business Requirements and organize the information into understandable documents. Translate business language for IT developers and vice versa. Ensure clear and concise written documentation is created for the Business and IT. Determine the strategic direction on the priorities of the team and decide on courses of action required to meet application deliverable timelines. Consult with end-users and respond with solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity in source data/tables for the Revenue Recognition Application (VRR) process. Develop complex queries and analytic tools to evaluate patterns.
  • Create solutions to challenging data issues. Assist finance and accounting teams in providing auditable reporting solutions.
  • Analyze situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Be responsible for strategic planning and envisioning of system development to support business requirements, logical architecture, and advancements in current processes and platforms.
  • Work to Ensure data integrity in source data/tables for the Revenue Recognition Application (VRR) process. Use SQL scripts to make logical connections between large numbers of data elements to ensure desired results.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • System Processing experience/ Revenue experience / Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Experience with SQL development, Data warehousing, data integration, data modeling, data profiling, and data quality measures.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in MIS, IT, Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Project Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced SQL skills for use in data analysis, ad hoc reporting, data quality assurance, and process development.
  • Six or more years of experience in system implementation including end-to-end design.
  • Knowledge of the accounting close process with SOX and GAAP understanding.
  • Data warehouse experience using Teradata, to analyze financial and operational data.
  • Experience with billing systems, billing data, revenue systems, revenue assurance/reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, communication and organizational skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects/deliverables.
  • Java or C++ experience.
  • Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and exposure to Big Data platform.
  • Knowledge and exposure to any ETL product like SSIS, Oracle Data Integrator or Informatica.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle practices, utilizing both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to resolve issues independently and drive solutions (end-to-end).
