What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is a Fortune 500 company providing services to Enterprise and Government clients. Our Australia business is spread across Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra office. In Canberra we run the Government Security Operations Centre to support our esteemed government clients. This part of our business is expanding due to a number of new opportunities and currently we are seeking a Junior Network Security Engineers to be a part of a skilled operations team managing dynamic multi-tenanted and dedicated secure gateway environments. The role involves shift work and you will be rewarded with 15% shift loading. This role offers a great deal of career progression as you can progress to Consultant level and further Lead level.

  • Responding to alerts from internal & external clients.
  • Logging Network Health, alerts in a quality manner and within SLA.
  • Performing first level troubleshooting of client incidents.
  • Assessing, writing and implementing client firewall rule changes.
  • Acting as overflow and after hours Service Desk.
  • Improving efficiencies - job throughput, resolution times, service improvements and process improvements.
  • Taking part responsibility for monthly reports to be accurate and on time.
  • Improving client communication - changes, outages, emergencies.

Adhering and assisting in the creation and maintenance of Service Desk and Monitoring procedures.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
  • Active Baseline and or NV1 clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Relevant IT degree and qualifications, especially in security area and an interest in security analytics would be ideal.
  • Two or more years of experience, ideally in a Network Security / Security analytics role.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills, capability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to interact with technical and management staff to develop and problem solve technical requirements.
  • Experience in an ITIL V2 or V3 environment.
  • Experience in Service Management Tools (CA Unicentre, VMWare Service Manager/Infra Enterprise Remedy).
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and OS (Both Windows and Linux/Unix).
