The Verizon Device Technology team is at the center of the 5G, Intelligent Edge, and Multi-Access Edge Compute (MEC) ecosystem, enabling applications such as IoT, augmented reality, virtual reality, connected vehicles, aerial drone solutions. This position will have a focus on Drone, UAS, autonomous vehicle, and Robot device diagnostics, data collection, analytics, tools and testing. Candidate will work directly with autonomous platforms and remote operated platforms utilizing a variety of wireless technologies. The candidate needs to possess hands-on experience in hardware and software development with can-do attitude who can think out of box coming up with innovative solutions. A problem solver, a team player, energetic and highly motivated individual. Looking for a technologist who exhibits enthusiasm, creativity, confidence, and curiosity.

  • Work with Network Planning, Strategy, and Marketing, along with other members of Device Technology, to create test tools, APIs, and diagnostic functionality for 4G and 5G based UAVs (Multi-Rotor Drones, VTOL, Plane, Rover, and Robot).
  • Develop autonomous and distributed systems with the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and its application.
  • Develop with autonomous flight software such as PX4 and Ardupilot, and protocols such as MAVLINK.
  • Design new and modify existing processes such as SLAM to utilize MEC and low latency 5G to offload compute from current hardware intensive industrial applications. Be able to work with Simulators such as Gazebo.
  • Develop Cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) architecture, strategies, and use cases. Create test plans to evaluate Client and Server interactions to validate collision avoidance, guidance, and traffic optimization.
  • Integrate LIDAR, Depth Sensors, Sonar, RTK, RGB Cameras, FLIR, and other sensors onto UAV platforms to increase autonomy and safety using Verizon 5G and MEC.
  • Work with corporate strategy, marketing, and business leaders to create use cases for UAV and Robotics that will generate scalable platforms and generate recurring revenue.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • BS CS/EE
  • 5-10 years C, C++, Python, JAVA, and HTML5 programming experience
  • Experience designing complex hardware and software systems in the areas of autonomy, robotics, and UAVs
  • Examples of rapid proto-typing, technical problem resolution, and innovative solutions
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and demonstrating technologies in front of senior executives
  • A technologist who is constantly looking for the next revolution and its potential impact for Verizon
  • Someone who can work independently and also manage a vendor team
  • Use Verizon assets in innovative ways, backed by a business plan that makes money or saves money
