What you’ll be doing...

We work with lots of customers internally and externally to create agreements that enable us to deliver the products and services we need to grow our business. You will be responsible for drafting, coordinating, and managing complex contracts and agreements. Working with our internal experts, lawyers, and business partners you will create agreements that ensure we balance our legal and regulatory obligations with the needs of the business. You will lend your expertise to the business, helping translate legal jargon and complex issues succinctly and simply so that people can understand.

  • Serve as lead contract participant in cross-functional team that launches new products and services.
  • Assist in the identification and standardization of technical and operational support requirements.
  • Engage internal clients on various legal and business matters, including tax, accounting, customer support, finance, and IT in support of an agreement.
  • Develop and draft contractual terms and conditions that ensure our standard terms and conditions are met while balancing the needs of all parties.
  • Addressing contract questions, effectively resolving disputes and escalating when appropriate.
  • Track contracts and provide reporting on status of projects and negotiations.
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for any and all deviations from policies and procedures.
  • Seek out process improvements, best practices and technology improvements that can be leveraged across the business. Improve coordination of cross-functional projects by providing contract analysis, reporting and feedback.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to existing business processes that drive simplification, automation and speed to market.

Working well with others of varied backgrounds and experiences comes easy to you-and -you seek to understand their interests and motivations to help create the best mutual outcomes. People think of you as someone who puts others at east and knows how to create agreement among parties. You also know when to hold your ground on the non-negotiables.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Contract managing and negotiation experience
  • Project Management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Even better if you have:

  • Advanced degree. Ideally, a JD.
  • Self –starter with the ability to assess risks/benefits and consequences and recommend appropriate actions with the judgement to know when to seek guidance.
  • Strong negotiating, analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written across the business at all levels.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to persuade others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • In depth knowledge of Verizon systems and business processes
  • Certifications from: Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), Institute of Supply Chain Management or equivalent (CPSM, CPM), National Contract Management Association or equivalent (CFCM, CCCM, CPCM), Project Management Institute (PMP), Lean Six Sigma experience and/or certification.
