What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a talented leader to manager is Tier 2 (network support) IP Core team.

  • The Leader will be part of the Network Management Leadership Team, focused on developing solutions that drive the success of Verizon’s bleeding-edge Networks and Platforms. They must be innovative and lead cross-functional activities with partners in Planning, Performance, and Engineering. The leader will be responsible for managing a team that that manages Verizon’s IP core team with networking experience and a focus on automating network support.
  • A successful candidate must lead a team that identifies, evaluates, and drives new opportunities through an expert-level comprehension of IP routing and automation strategies.
  • This position requires that the individual have extensive knowledge of IP routing protocols, internet peering, MPLS forwarding, and Quality of Service. Experience with SDN, Network Controllers, and NFV Orchestration \ VNF Management is highly desirable. They will partner internally and externally with vendors to provide architectural leadership.
  • The candidate must also embrace agile methodologies and show an aptitude for being able to adapt. They will lead the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting a DevOps mindset.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to be on-call after hours and on weekends.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering,Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Eight or more years of experience in the telecom industry focused on technology.
  • Knowledge of IP routing protocols IS-IS, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Knowledge of forwarding protocols LDP and RSVP-TE.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to lead people and manage technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
  • Experience working in or supporting an operations Network Management/Operations Center.
  • Willingness to travel.
