What you’ll be doing...

The Fleet Supply Chain Planning Consultant will be responsible for overseeing and managing Verizon Fleet supply chain replenishment processes and systems to ensure that the material needs of the internal Fleet operations teams are being sufficiently met. Meeting these needs plays a critical role in the optimization of vehicle repair and maintenance turnaround times to the field. Through partnering with a variety of stakeholder groups, suppliers, and vendors, the primary objective of this position is to oversee the business processes related to the ordering, fulfillment, and inventorying of Fleet parts and materials. These business processes span across all repair facilities within the Verizon Fleet blueprint and thus consistency amongst all fleet inventory and supply management is critical to the success of the department. This includes usage forecast review, parts room design, inventory replenishment and optimization, and material fulfillment activities. Also, the role will focus on analyzing and establishing best practices for all area replenishment teams, regarding lifecycle management from a forward inventory replenishment perspective in addition to reducing the need to return and/or retain obsolete and excessive inventory. All actions will be in an effort to achieve the team’s goals of maintaining exceptional service levels, managing on-hand inventory to less than 30 day of supply while limiting working capital exposure, and managing to a stringent expedited freight budget.

In addition, an understanding of long-term strategy is critical in forming plans of execution to meet our goals. The role will report under the Fleet Performance Assurance team and align with the strategic goals of the overall Verizon Fleet Operations Group. Due to limited supervision in day-to-day tasks, the Consultant must be self-driven and able to come to resolutions on their own. Communication with local area teams and leadership is expected through the day to day activities of planning, optimizing, and managing of supply chain activities at individual work center locations. Additionally, the candidate must be well rounded displaying cross-functional abilities in order to backup other team members when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Execution

  • Lead inventory process review with fleet team to ensure alignment on inventory and supply replenishment.
  • Oversee the process related to placement of PO’s for stocking, non-stocking, and expense material.
  • Continuously enhance and improve the forecasting models being used in Fleet to predict inventory needs and replenishment while working to close the gap on ordering inefficiencies.
  • Inventory lifecycle management continues to be a key driver of excess inventory and obsolescence. By improving the lifecycle management of key part and supply SKUs, we are able to better manage overall inventory value.
  • Improve recommended order forecasts for daily and weekly capacity planning allowing us to better forecast replenishment quantities, inbound supply, and stocking needs. Detailed analysis is required to validate input and output.
  • Improve the management of overstocked inventory and supplies by reviewing daily and working with area inventory teams to initiate stock balance requests or inventory pullbacks.
  • Expand the bandwidth of the replenishment by handling special orders for all area teams. This will allow for a better review under time constraints and better allocation of available inventory for each area.
  • Analyze daily stock out and service level issue reporting and provide summaries to the leadership team. This would include root cause analysis and clear and concise feedback to the leadership and area teams as well as recommendations to resolve the issue(s).
  • Work together with sourcing to manage vendor information and price files to ensure that most up to date information is kept in Fleet system to ensure accuracy during placement of PO’s.
  • Coordinate and lead training classes for new employees on parts management processes within Fleet wave Fleet system.
  • Act as key point of contact for 3rd party vendors with regards to Fleet supply chain day to day operational issues and challenges and assist in working towards a quick resolution.
  • Work closely with Vendor management fleet personnel to ensure 3rd party vendors meet or exceed contractual SLA’s or KPI’s.

Inventory Optimization

  • Align replenishments with various fleet teams and vendors to ensure proper inventory ratios. As the fleet inventory targets are reduced, adjustments to the replenishment logic and strategy need to be identified and implemented. This position will be responsible for identifying opportunities at a SKU level to make adjustments and improve overall supply planning efficiencies.
  • Inventory lifecycle management continues to be a key driver of excess inventory and obsolescence. By improving the lifecycle management of key parts and supply SKUs, we are able to better manage overall inventory value.
  • Provide Analytics and Systems team business changes needed to improve the systemic solution to Optimize Inventory in the Fleet Department.
  • Work across multiple teams to plan product transitions from inception to accommodate any strategy changes in between ensuring that inventory is not over/under stocked. Once decision is reached, ensure all teams execute the same solution.
  • Develop processes surrounding planning builds with adequate lead-time for fleet repair facilities to receive and utilize product. By collaborating and aligning across multiple teams, we can save money on freight expenses and decrease the late order drops to inventory locations causing inefficiencies for Fleet Operations.

Lead Replenishment Standardization

  • Develop and implement daily/weekly replenishment logic to ensure all areas remain aligned utilizing the same system settings. Detailed analysis is necessary to ensure recommendations improve utilization of inventory and our people resources.
  • By streamlining the ordering process for all regional location this position will act as a point of contact any issues related to ordering or inventory related tasks.
  • Coordinate and communicate any changes in replenishment logic to all replenishment teams. As improvements are made, this subject matter expert will be the best person to coordinate and communicate with each area team to ensure all are aligned with any process or system changes.
  • Orchestrate, drive, and align with area inventory planning teams on major changes to the replenishment plans on a daily basis. By keeping the area fleet teams informed, it should reduce questions flowing into the helpdesk mailboxes.

Continuous Improvement

Engage in VLSS projects as necessary to provide input on replenishment planning and to provide the business perspective to the VLSS project lead(s). Ensure all data is being provided to the VLSS team as necessary to advance the project and drive to completion.

Think outside the box to offer insight and feedback into opportunities for process improvement within the Verizon Fleet supply chain business processes and systems.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance or other related discipline or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of Automotive Parts Experience or Automotive Mechanical Knowledge.
  • Three or more years of supply chain experience working in a technology or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of supply planning, inventory optimization, replenishment planning, and supply chain-related systems, experience with Fleetwave fleet system.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain, inventory control, and Finance to think strategically and align short-term daily functions with long-term goals of the business.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading cross-functional team.
