What you’ll be doing...

This position will have the responsibility for policy governance and technical leadership within the Global Network and Technology organization. As a network security technical expert, you will be expected to champion critical programs, engage with the business leadership and industry on a wide range of cyber security matters to achieve overall business and security objectives.

Reporting to the Network Security Management Leader, you will:

  • Develop and maintain network wide cyber security strategy, working across the Global Network and Technology business to include network visibility, investment allocations and identification of key risk programs or metrics that ensure strategy is being executed.
  • Maintain and adjust strategy, both short and long term, based on changing threat and Verizon 2.0 network environment.
  • Business Engagement – will have responsibility for engaging with technology leaders in Planning, Maintenance Engineering, Engineering and Network Operations on security matters to improve and mature our cyber security posture across our management networks and customer critical networks. This includes but is not limited to 5G, MEC, iEN, and VCP.
  • Champion critical cross-organization projects as the Subject Matter Expert to drive them to closure.
  • Attend and represent Verizon at industry forums to help define new standards and drive Verizon network forward with the latest best practices.
  • Engage with Legal in working with outside parties and other ISPs to develop relationships to better collectively defend the Internet from threats.
  • Support internal risk management programs by contributing to process improvements and taking part in the day to day workflows. One such example is the Security Policy Exception program and its associated tasks of reviewing and approving exceptions.
  • Support internal and external audits where needed.
  • Serve as one of the caretakers for the two Verizon security policy documents CPI-810 and Network Security Baseline by attending policy discussions and by contributing annual updates to each.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.


Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Ten or more years of experience in networking, application development and support, and cyber security.
  • Capability to interact and provide executive level communications to Director, VPs,
  • Experience in managing network security functions, strategy and risk within a large organization.
  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience with securing critical routing and network services and understanding of current critical customer network and management network architectures.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Capability to participate and lead executive dialogues in regards identity and access management.
  • Experience creating and maintaining partnering relationships with business leaders at Director, VP levels.
  • Strong presentation skills along with the ability to handle multiple priorities and challenging situations.
  • Existing ISP industry and related technology relationships and experience.
  • Willingness to travel less than approximately 25% of the time.
