Verizon is positioned to lead the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” (4IR) with the emergence of technologies like our best-in-class 5G network and the Internet of Things (IoT) to impact a wide variety of industries such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, public safety, government, and many others. We are in the midst of historic breakthroughs in connectivity and mobility to blend the physical and the digital through cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, nanotechnologies, 3D printing, wearables, and advanced robotics. As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation through building a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.

You will be responsible for assuring day to day network performance and reliability for the best customer experience in the market. This includes the training and continued development of the workforce as well as organizing and scheduling the resources necessary to support a broad range of network elements. You will direct and supervise the Field Assurance Engineers and ensure the proper integration, activation, maintenance and ongoing operations of all core RF, transport/backhaul, and data elements as well as the physical plant necessary to deliver on our network reliability brand promise.

  • Managing the operation and maintenance of all technologies necessary to expand and evolve the network to meet customer demand for new and improved service offerings.
  • Supporting both capital and expense projects while delivering upon financial targets/goals.
  • Performing installation and maintenance of transport facilities, software translations, hardware/software upgrades, and router/switch upgrades, IP configurations, RAN Antenna Performance and Interference troubleshooting, Cell Site Call Testing and Site Activations in the designated market regions.
  • Interfacing and providing support to other local departments to ensure growth schedules are being met.

Ensuring the security, safety, and environmental compliance of systems and facilities are in accordance with corporate guidelines.

What we’re looking for...

As a strong and effective people leader, you will lead field engineers through change as our network and skill sets transform. As an excellent team player, you will effectively partner with other market network teams to continue to ensure best in class results, as well as removing roadblocks to make the field teams more productive. Strong computer skills, excel and data analysis are foundations to identifying areas for focus and improvement.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in one or more of the following fields: wireless networks, telecommunications, radio communications, IP networks.
  • Two or more years of managerial/leadership experience.
  • Experience in networking including IP addressing, routing and Ethernet switching.
  • Experience with Excel and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of call flow for a voice and/or data session describing network elements from cell to Internet.
  • Knowledge of wireless cell site base station, router and antenna equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of circuit and RAN test equipment and network monitoring applications.
  • RF Network Performance or Networking background.
  • Service provider experience in MSC and/or Cell Operations maintenance.
  • Experience with Cisco, ALU /Nokia infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronic theory, and applications.
  • Experience with Transmission facilities and network protocols (IP, Ethernet Backhaul, Dark Fiber).
