What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the field survey and Engineering design function for Hicap and Fiber to the Cell Networks. Responsibilities include surveying customer locations, meeting with vendors and other carriers related to facility design. This includes the identification of Outside Plant Fiber Optic Network elements in proximity to the customer and determining methods of delivery to the customer’s building. This role will require coordination with a variety of teams and will have direct contact with business and residential customers. Work will be performed in an outdoor environment and also indoors within customer premises.

Job responsibilities also include:

  • Planning and designing additions, upgrades, repairs, and enhancements.
  • Selecting and pricing solutions based on the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
  • Coordination with internal departments and customer focused communication with residential and business end-users, building contractors, and property owners to implement solutions appropriately.
  • Creating winning outcomes for both Verizon and its customers.

Where you’ll be working:

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Windows-based programs and corporate database systems. 
  • Experience with CAD, and MS Excel/MS Access.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Outside plant engineering, construction, or installation experience.
  • Skill in Windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to make network design decisions based on recommended Engineering Guidelines and design criteria.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to lead others effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact with customers effectively in order to communicate and explain our service order process and the method of delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
  • Prior working experience and basic knowledge of telecom Outside Plant Engineering practices.
  • Experience with the CAD/3GIS programs as well as high proficiency with MS Word/Excel and/or MS Access.
  • The ability to interact with customers in a clear and concise manner in order to communicate and explain our service order process and the method of delivery.
  • The ability to quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
  • Fiber to the Cell knowledge in design and Network layout.
  • Knowledge of Hicap related systems (e.g., CoFEE, UUI, CCP, Vbuild, Tirks).
