What you’ll be doing...

As a Business Development Client Partner for Verizon Public Sector, you'll play a key role in driving profitable growth across your assigned accounts. You’ll act as a resource for all things government sales, providing strategic account planning, managing C-level relationships, developing pipeline, and positioning Verizon to win business. The BD Client Partner will be responsible for growing the business for The Commerce Department, Department of Labor, and NASA.Additional responsibilities include:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with C-Level client executives
  • Advise to senior client stakeholders, co-creating connectivity, security and IT strategy with agency CIO/CTO/CISO
  • Build trust and credibility at all levels within the agency, identifying customer priorities and ensuring Verizon Public Sector has a key role in achieving them through successful positioning and shaping
  • Develop 1-year and 3-year account plans for assigned accounts keeping in mind Verizon’s changing product suite and market landscape
  • Develop long-term account plans by gathering industry, technology and customer insights and turning these into actionable strategies to support Public Sector growth objectives
  • Developing and implementing business development strategies to acquire new business as well as grow existing business
  • Develop strategies to drive upsell and cross-sell revenue in assigned accounts by identifying, qualifying and managing pursuit of new growth opportunity
  • Managing pipeline, forecasting sales, monitoring progress against goals, anticipating resource requirements and planning work to grow your assigned accounts
  • Assisting in the consultative selling sales process, ensuring customer needs are understood and met, advising on the best solutions, and helping to shape and close deals

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

You have the business acumen and executive presence to establish credibility with the c-suite, and you’re energized by the prospect of solving the next generation of government mission problems – while landing the next big sale.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Business development and account management experience in Federal Civilian market.
  • Experience establishing and fostering relationships with C-level executives.
  • Experience providing thought leadership to major public sector clients.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant technical, engineering, or business area.
  • Experiencewithin Commerce, Labor, or NASA.
  • Experience developing a sales force and training and re-engineering for solutions-based selling.
  • Experiencemeeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Sold technology/IT services to government agencies.
  • Experience in contract management and procurements processes.
  • Experience inindustry/segment expertise and insight.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate and present information to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience using social media in a professional setting.
  • Experience serving as a consultant to federal government agencies.
  • Experience negotiating contracts with closure of at least five hundred million in revenue.
  • Experience developing business cases based on TCO/ROI/ROIC techniques.
  • Experience network and credibility within civilian government accounts.
