What you’ll be doing...

The Ashburn Network Management Center (NMC) is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support management of Verizon’s video network. The Network Management Center (NMC) is a fast paced, technical environment that monitors and manages the various networks and applications that are the foundation for Verizon’s internal and external products. The NMC is accountable for the timely identification and restoration of service impacting events. The overall goal of this group is to ensure network availability, resiliency, and reliability while leveraging automation tools and business insights to proactively identify and resolve network issues.

  • Monitoring of Video on Demand, Over the Top, and FiOS TV application relating to system performance impairments, hardware/software faults and responding to network alarms and events.
  • Generating, driving and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continually improve business practices.
  • Generating ECHO flash and processing escalations.
  • Monitoring and managing Linux and Windows based servers supporting other applications in the video network.
  • Performing triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.
  • Leading triage bridges with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitoring and managing alarms and creating automation rules.
  • Providing timely and accurate network technical assistance to leadership and external teams by communicating technical details in a clear and concise status update during network events.
  • Planning, participating and performing operations readiness testing for new products and services
  • Providing support and direction for the integration of standard processes within the organization.
  • Building and maintaining communication and relationships with several cross-functional teams.

In this hybrid role, you’ll have a defined office location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Knowledge of Networks, Windows, andLinux Servers.
  • Experience in enterprise NAS storage management.
  • Knowledge of FTTP and/or Optical Line.
  • Experience with optical networks and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of video network; both linear and non-linear.
  • Knowledge of Terrestrial and OTA content acquisition.
  • Experience in troubleshooting bridges and maintaining timelines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby).
  • Willingness to work shifts.
  • Experience in automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
