What you’ll be doing...

As a Software Developer in the Verizon Business Group - Global Technology Solutions team, you will be responsible for designing frameworks and delivering solutions for our eCommerce Service Systems, to drive revenue and reduce costs for VBG. As part of these programs, you will leverage the System of Insights (SOI), Simplified Workflows, Systems of Engagement (SOE) and Digital Operating Environment to transform the customer and employee experience to eliminate manual processes, reduce costs, and increase revenue. You will be part of several VBG Transformation initiatives, partnering with the business leaders and workstream owners to transform our service systems for each segment of VBG: Enterprise, Business Markets, Public Sector and Wholesale.

  • Helping in the development of new and existing platforms required to maintain and operate our core business, ensure our systems remain secure and compliant and improve systems performance, all while delivering innovative solutions aligned to the VBG North Star architecture.
  • Helping in identifying emerging technologies to support the platforms, and building strong partnerships across GTS as we simplify our architecture and transform our systems.
  • Playing critical part of the VBG transformation journey - increasing revenue, reducing costs and generating significant EBITDA benefits for Verizon.
  • Participating and influencing the technical architecture and design of the Digital applications.
  • Designing cost effective automation solutions using VBG architectural constructs and frameworks.
  • Building high performing relationships, drive business engagement, manage expectations, and align with senior leadership and working teams on initiative deliverables.
  • Exercising considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining transformation results.
  • Identifying actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence the direction of decisions for the organization.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Knowledge of systems architecture and relevant technologies.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, Java Script, React, Angular JS, Java, Oracle, Weblogic and associated technology in an Unix/Linux environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to connect at all levels of the business leadership team.
  • Experience with Microservice technologies and Java8, Spring, Spring Boot, Restful Web Services, SQL/NoSQL DB, e.g. Postgres, Logstash, Log4j/Log4net & Apache Kafka.
  • Experience in Agile software development practices.
  • Experience in ETL/Informatica/Relational Database/Cassandra.
  • Experience in React, Node, and/or AngularJS.
  • Experience with automated build, test, and deploy services, e.g.,Jenkins, Gitlab, JIRA.
  • Experience with scanning tools, automated build, test, and deploy services, e.g., Jenkins, GIT, JIRA, Fortiffy.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with solutions architects on virtualized platforms and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with enterprise systems development and API integration.
  • Strong interestin continuous learning of emerging technologies
  • Experience in partnering and aligning with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, demanding, customer and team-oriented work environment.
  • Experience in the current VBG GTS org.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Experience with delivering and scaling automation, including RPA, chatbots and AI/ML.
