What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking an Identity & Access Management (IAM) Principal Security Engineer for the Global Network and Technology Network Security team focused on the overall engineering, integration, execution, and systems administration across all IAM platforms. Our Mission is to promote and maintain the security of Verizon’s and other assets to protect them from internal and external threats by providing simplified secure access to the increasingly heterogeneous technology environments of Verizon’s network resources and services.

As our Principle Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer, you will use extensive knowledge of the IAM field along with your hands-on development expertise to help implement and mature a business-focused IAM strategic roadmap. This role will be part of a fast-paced team that is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining security technology roadmaps. Which provides an essential security framework, and allows the company to move rapidly, yet securely, toward achieving business goals.


  • Development, implementation, and successful operationalization of Enterprise IAM Tools.
  • Resolves technical issues in the IAM Platform. Performs problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for moderately complex issues.
  • Assist in determining threats.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities to the organization, and direct corrective actions.
  • Participate in design, code, and test Inspections throughout the product life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify issues. Presents technical status and issues at milestone reviews.
  • Works under moderate supervision. Works independently in response to general work direction.
  • Develop and test code to deliver functionality that meets the overall business strategy and objectives.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Systems administration experience in Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience with Identity Access Management.
  • Experience with technologies such as CyberArk, Okta, or Saviynt.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field.
  • CISSP, SANS, or other security related certification.
  • Experience with LDAP/Directory Services technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of directory services, Identity and access management technologies.
  • Experience with the delivery and support of single sign on, SAML, OAuth and OpenID Connect.
  • Experience with Rest Web services, SSO/Federation architectures and other authentication/authorization protocols.
  • Knowledge on IAM concepts such as identity management, provisioning, authentication, authorization, certification/governance, monitoring, role mining along with experience in security best practices.
  • Experience in cloud Identity Management.
  • Experience with open standards development including XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, AJAX, and Java/J2EE.
  • Ability to solve common design and development problems.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
