What you’ll be doing...

As a Principal Engineer SRE, you will be working on implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and principles across all customer/agent interactions and applications. Your role, as part of the SRE team, would be to operate applications in production “mission-critical systems” and do whatever is necessary to keep the site up and running. You will be responsible for maintaining and establishing service levels agreed upon with Business and managing error budgets for each of their systems. You will be expected to balance your time doing operational work (making sure systems work as expected) and also improving the systems by writing software to automate processes and reduce wasted effort.

• Implementing SRE automation, developing automation across the stack, and optimizing operations hours by reducing manual operations.
• Implementing automation across all the layers – infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment, testing, and operation.
• Working on retooling our infrastructure to provide an agile, cloud-based foundation that provides common infrastructure management and automation framework.
• Interfacing directly with senior staff members within the organization to discuss and assess compliance with IT policies, standards, and procedures, suggest opportunities for improvement and report on the status of specific.
• Working with development teams throughout the software life cycle ensuring sustainable software releases.
• Practicing sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Developing automation scripts to automate the creation and maintenance of environments.
• Creating and implementing monitoring tools and solutions to provide visibility into the infrastructure and application performance.
• Diagnosing complex system problems using dumps, traces, or other diagnostics aids.
• Diagnosing system performance problems using available standard performance tools and system indicators such as queue lengths, CPU utilization, and Datadog.
• Looking for opportunities for continual improvements in infrastructure and processes.
• Ensuring scalable processes and infrastructure with a focus on high availability.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in Java Application Design, Development, Programming and Support Maintenance using Java EE technologies (e.g., Spring, Web Services,Oracle).
• Working knowledge of APM tools like New Relic, Catchpoint, or Kibana.
• Expertise with DevOps suite of tools, such as Jira, Docker, Jenkins, and Git.

Even better if you have one or more in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, Master’s degree.
• Knowledge of WEB Open Standards, including HTTP, Web Services, SOAP, XML, XPath, XSLD, HTML 5, and RSS.
• Six or more years of experience working on middle technologies like Weblogic, Tomcat, IBM MQ/Kafka/ RabbitMQ, Springboot, REDIS, Elasticsearch, etc.
• Automation experience and ability to code or script at an advanced level.
• Experience in Java Application Design, Development, Programming and Support Maintenance using Java EE technologies (JSP, Servlets, JSF, Struts, Spring, AJAX, JDBC, JNDI, Java Beans, Hibernate, Web Services, Web Sphere Application Server, BEA Web logic, Oracle ADF, ADF Faces and Oracle12C), JavaScript.
• Experience with designing and implementing CI/CD DevOps solutions using Jenkins pipelines using Python, Git, Shell, YAML, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Kubernetes CKA Certification.
• Experience in scripting - Ansible, CloudFormation, Jython, and UNIX shell scripting.
• Configuration Management experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Python.
• Experience performing analytics on previous incidents and usage patterns to better predict issues and take proactive actions.
• Experience leading and participating in performance tests to identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands.
• Experience in IT Security and compliance, operations, network services, and application development.
