What you’ll be doing...

The Southlake Network Management Center (NMC) is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support management of Verizon’s Official Telecom Next Generation Network (OTNGN), eNSE, VCP and various platforms across the network. We are a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment, which focuses on ensuring that the network remains available, reliable and secure. The NMC offers effective network management tools and standard processes to communicate network events across the business related to short term break/fix outages to longer term issues. Continuous improvement driving our business and troubleshooting working strategies that will minimize network events of our Voice and Data Networks.

  • Monitoring of (voice/data) network architectures relating to system performance impairments, hardware/software faults and responding to network alarms and events.
  • Generating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continually improve business practices.
  • Performing triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.
  • Working with external and internal Verizon organizations coordinating and troubleshooting network events.
  • Providing timely and accurate network technical assistance to leadership and external teams by communicating technical details in a clear and concise status updates during network events.
  • Leading bridges with cross-functional teams ensuring the call remains focused and productive.
  • Guiding and training fellow engineers.
  • Monitoring call systems, alerts and reporting to make sure the team addresses issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining summaries of impacting bridges so that the information can be sent to leadership at an appropriate interval.
  • Providing support and direction for the integration of standard processes within the organization.
  • Building and maintaining excellent communication and relationships with several cross-functional teams.

Where you’ll be working…

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

This role is eligible to be considered for the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years or relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating schedule (shifts), based on the needs of the business

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business.
  • Experience in routers, switches, Firewalls, load balancers and connection correlation from end-to-end.
  • Certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
  • Experience in Cisco, Juniper, and F5 devices.
  • Knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment, technologies, processes and systems as well as department of company policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) and knowledge of concepts associated to cloud computing and virtualization (SDN/NFV).
  • Ability to triage and prioritize network outages.
  • Knowledge of wireless technology and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and make good data driven decisions based on business needs.
  • Experience in leading troubleshooting bridges and maintaining timelines.
  • Good Written and verbal communication skills.
