What you’ll be doing...

As a key member of the Financial Planning & Analytics Services organization, the Sr. Engineering Consultant will be responsible for developing solutions to address the information needs of Finance and other Verizon organizations that rely on Financial Data. You will respond to top-priority finance goals by developing curated data products leveraging foundational data assets and using state-of-the-art tools and technology.

  • Understanding new business initiatives with a goal of translating them into data product requirements and develop data engineering requirements to support ETL, build and design.
  • Determining optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source systems.
  • Translating cross-functional business requirements into data products requirements to enable multiple uses for each data product.
  • Integrating financial and operational data elements into consumable data products.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for data governance, specifically relating to data mapping/lineage, and data cataloguing.
  • Working independently and partnering with other data product developers and engineers to develop strategies and design solutions for curated data products as a bridge between data engineering and how data will be used by the client community.
  • Embracing the evolution of new trends and techniques involved in developing “analytics-ready” datasets using state of the art technology.
  • Partnering with the Business Intelligence, Data Science and Data Engineering teams to gather data product requirements for foundational data development.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in analyzing data sets using SQL with Teradata/ Oracle/ MS SQL Server.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytics/Business Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, Data Science.
  • Six Sigma, Project Management and/or Agile/Scrum certification.
  • Experience in Data Analysis, problem-solving and analytical skills, investigating and solving complex technical problems and data discrepancies.
  • Experience in data sources and business rules within Verizon wireless data warehouse and reporting tools.
  • Experience in fixed wireless access product and processes.
  • Knowledge of project management skills and experience working with cross functional teams to deliver results.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to present to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in Big Data, Google Cloud, Knime, Informatica, Qlik, Thoughtspot, Python, R.
