What you’ll be doing...

The Application Security Protection and Detection team is seeking a Manager to provide a critical, leadership role in providing key security capabilities to the application security organization & application development teams across the enterprise. The RASP and WAF team implement, supports, and reviews security services across Verizon through specialization of skills required to identify attacks and prevent threat actors from compromising Verizon Services that impact revenue or brand reputation. The team consists of 11 employees both on & offshore as well as contractors.

  • Onboarding and supporting the Runtime Application Self Protection (RASP) tool to include support, architecture/design, and governance of the product.
  • Onboarding and supporting the Web Application Firewall (WAF) tool to include support, architecture/design, and governance of the product.
  • Responsible to lead a team of engineers that will maintain the RASP tool and the WAF tool to include: Partnership with key application security personnel and stakeholders, Creation and support of documentation, presentations and working meetings, Effective communication with application teams, Automation testing for ease and efficiency of work needed from app teams.

What we’re looking for...

This role requires IT experience, with at least five years of experience in Enterprise Technology architecture, design, and development. Experiencein cyber concepts, implementation and applicability to Verizon’s technology footprint. Experience performingas a lead of cyber engineers and development teams.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • One year of experience managing a team.
  • Knowledge of known protection and detection technologies.
  • Two to three years of experience with secure configuration management techniques, software debugging principles, software design tools, methods, and techniques.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of secure protection and detection techniques & application security, application security vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
  • Experience with software related information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., modularization, layering, abstraction, data hiding, and simplicity/minimization) & critical infrastructure systems with information technology designed without system security considerations.
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense).
  • Experience with security architecture concepts and enterprise architecture reference models.
  • Skills developing and applying security system access controls & Skill in discerning the protection needs (i.e., security controls) of applications.
  • Skill in integrating 3rd party security protection and detection tools into complex systems.
  • Skill in secure test plan design (e. g. unit, integration, system, and acceptance).
  • Skill to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to successful completion
  • Ability to design and implement from specifications to include preparation of detailed specifications.
  • Strong decision-making and leadership abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work through issues independently.
  • Ability to broker solutions for issues between functional domains and senior leaders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with C-level gravitas.
