What you’ll be doing...

  • Design and hands-on implementation of customer networks (WAN, LAN, data centre, IPT, etc.)
  • Creating documentation for the implementation of the customer's network.
  • Support and coach other engineers in the team at a technical level to provide professional engineering support to enable Verizon’s organisation to provide high quality services/solutions to our customers.
  • Responsible for strategies for complex projects.
  • Manage the deliverables on complex customer design and implementation projects.
  • Pro-actively drive the development of the engineering role together with the other Design Engineers, Implementation Engineers.
  • Fourth-level support for Operations in the Incident and Problem Management process.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Knowledge: "Technical knowledge and experience at CCNP or similar level with focus on contemporary technologies (e.g. MPLS, TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, QoS, IP Telephony, Multicast, etc.). Six or more years of experience in the design and implementation of large-scale customer networks. Fluency in English required; proficiency in other major languages desired. Basic knowledge of business processes (e.g. ITIL, Project Management) and the impact thereof on the technical environment.
  • Attitude: Flexible work-attitude, being willing to work at irregular hours when required, but at the same time knowing how to set boundaries and find a healthy work-life balance. Having found a middle way between procedural and optional focus.
  • Ethics: Working at an ethical level that goes beyond mere compliance, but keeping in mind the needs of colleagues, customer and company at an integral level and basing decisions on those ethical principles.
  • Communication: Professional level of personal and business communication at levels ranging from operational engineering to customer technical contacts.
  • Cooperation: Ability to give guidance and coaching to GES engineers at a technical level. Ability to cooperate with the customer on technical project-related issues.
  • Culture: Affinity with a multi-cultural work environment. Affinity with working in an international company, with international customers, taking into account various time-zones.
  • Politics: Ability to cope with the politics of large company environments.
  • Organisation: Five or more years of experience with telecommunication organisations as well as with international companies. Knows the way within Verizon to access resources and people needed at their own level.
